When you respond to someone's snippy post only to later find out they deleted or changed the part you were responding to.

I try not to respond to posts that I am in disagreement with. Snippy posters are always a problem.

That's why it's a good idea to place the part of the poster's snippy message you don't disagree with in a quoted part of your reply, so that everyone can see what they originally said. Either that, or wait about an hour or so until they can't make any changes, then put your reply.

I rarely post snippy or ill-humored messages, but I still get sent to my room all the time...

I almost always quote a post when replying directly to it. I have calmed down a lot since I first joined and I don't usually respond to snippy or negative posts. If I do, I try to do so in a constructive and respectful manner. I do not always succeed.

This happened to me just recently! Apparently someone aimed to be snippy specifically to me. I quoted them and responded in good faith. Then came the retort...and later they deleted the original snippiness. Must have realized when I didn't take the bait that the interaction just showed them to be mean spirited. What can you do - some people choose to perpetuate disharmony, eh? Guess they didn't realize the quote in my post wouldn't be deleted

Anyway, that's a revealing game for people of low character. If I overstep, I try to mend any misunderstandings by being up front about it. Sometimes it works...sometimes not so much.

I agree Mike.

I don't need anyone's help to look like an idiot. That didn't come out right.
