It's the digital equivalent of waving at someone from across a crowded room.

And yet a Tennessee woman was arrested last month for "poking" another user on Facebook.

It's the equivalent of calling someone on the telephone. If this woman did that to someone who has a legal protection order against her - then yes, she violated it and can go to jail. No contact, means no contact in a stalking and protection order and they don't mess around with it.

This person took a chance and lost big time. I don't feel sorry for them at all.

I get poked every day!

It's not a big deal - seriously it's not!

---

What I don't get - if they didn't want this person bothering with them, than why were they friends with them? It's the only way you can poke someone.

It's possible they were friends at one time before whatever happened to cause a PO to be issued. Maybe this person forgot to remove them as a friend from Facebook. Who knows. Regardless, the person knew they were to not make contact in any way, shape or form and they ignored this. To some this will seem trivial but not to someone who has been involved in protective orders for many years and observed what can and does happen when they are ignored and violated.
