Good morning! First one on (I think)-WOOHOO!! Today's questions:

Electronic birthday e-mail cards Love them? I do. last one I got was a great Three Stooges one!

Bonus question: Do you live to eat or eat to live? Lately it has been DEFINITELY live to eat! Food-YUMS!

Extra credit question: if you dial the wrong number and the answering machine picks up?? I usually leave a sorry wrong number message.

Just for fun; Do you remember watching American Bandstand on TV? OH YEA! Always watched unless it was baseball practice, boy scout stuff, or something like that. Actually it was my mom who got me to watching it-she LOVED Bobby Darin, and kinda liked Rydell, Fabian, Anka, Elvis also!

What is your earliest childhood memory? Pertaining to Bandstand, I would say Bobby Darin doing "Splish Splash', also the Everly brothers singing "So Sad (To See Good Love Go bad)" Classic stuff, loved those guys then-STILL do!

Do you remember how old you were? I'm guessing 9, maybe 10.

Word of the day-burgeon. Hmm, tell ya what. I think I'll let my CD collection burgeon a tad bit, haven't bought any in 24 hours, time for tunes! YIPPEEE!

Balloons around the world day! A tip for an October vacation; Albuquerque New Mexico for the Balloon Festival they have there! It's a blast!

Hope everybody has a great day!!

So glad to hear that you had fun with our beloved friend, Karla! And as a bonus, we get an early QOTD... Cool!

Edit to add: we all need to stop by here https://www.city-data.com/forum/commu...day-today.html to wish Karla a happy birthday!

Today's Question(s):

Electronic email birthday cards from close family members

Love them?

Don't like them, you can't hold a e-card?

Sigh,Oh well at least they remembered?

I don't ever recall getting such a thing. Most of my family are well aware of my total lack of interest in celebrating my birthday. The few who still insist on acknowledging it are Luddites like me, and I don't think they'd even know how to send an electronic greeting card.

Bonus Question:

Do you live to eat or eat to live?

Yes!

lol ok I know this is going to get some of those little faces so let me rephrase

Do you look upon eating as a 5 senses experience?
or
Time to refuel, and grab what ever is handy?

It really depends on the setting, the circumstances and the others around me. When I'm at the office, I don't even slow down for lunch; I just gnaw on a peanut butter sandwich as I grind through reconciling the latest round of inventory screwups. Supper with my spouse is generally simple in both content and presentation, but we both take time to focus on and savor the food, while also appreciating time and laughter with each other. Holiday dinners up the ante a notch, though I am not the crystal-and-linens type, nor am I the sort who tries to make a work of art out of a serving of mashed rutabaga. But we still place a major emphasis on fresh, home-made, delicious food in ample quantities for such an occasion, and we've collected a large group of adopted "family" that have all decided they'd rather celebrate holidays around the table in our tiny kitchen than anywhere else.

Extra Credit Question:

If you dial a wrong number and the answering machine picks up do you

Hang up?

I don't ever recall that happening (I hate talking on the phone and avoid making calls like the plague) but if it ever did, I'd just hang up.

If your home number was very similar to a local business number and you got several calls a month for them would you

Tell the caller " sorry you have the wrong number"?

Give them the correct number?

This actually happened to us for the entire 18 years that we lived in Texas. Our phone number was one digit off the local police department's phone number, and you cannot imagine how many wrong-numbers we'd get. We'd always try to give the correct number to the caller, though with varying success. I recall one night a very determined woman called our number every 15 minutes all night long, absolutely convinced that we had her husband in the drunk tank, and there was nothing we could do to convince her to call the right number. I finally unplugged the phone about 2:00 a.m.

Just for Fun:

Do you remember watching American Bandstand on TV?

Nope.

What is your earliest childhood memory?

I have a faint recollection of sitting in my high chair in the kitchen at lunchtime. My mother always listened to classical music, and there was some program that came on at lunchtime every day that used the melody from Brahms' first symphony for theme music. To this day, when I hear that symphony, I can close my eyes and be instantly transported about five decades back in time.

Do you remember how old you were?

I'm guessing two, give or take a little? I was in the highchair, which means that I had to have been at least close to two years old, since I was in a body cast until I was 20 months old. Probably two, two and a half, thereabouts.

Today's Question(s):

Electronic email birthday cards from close family members

Love them ?

Don't like them, you can't hold a e-card ?

Sigh,Oh well at least they remembered ?

My sister has sent them to me in the past. Anymore I would just as soon forget about my birthday

Bonus Question:

Do you live to eat or eat to live ?

lol ok I know this is going to get some of those little faces so let me rephrase

Do you look upon eating as a 5 senses experience ?
or
Time to refuel, and grab what ever is handy ?

I usually just grab whatever is handy. However If I actually go to a sit-down type of resturant, then I will order an appitiser, hit the salad bar, do the main course, and if still hungry, then have desert.

Extra Credit Question:

If you dial a wrong number and the answering machine picks up do you

Hang up ?
I usually just hang up. It does not really matter what I do as I am always getting calls from unknown people wanting to know why I called their number. If they get real pushy, I make up some bizzare or twisted story as to why I called their number. That usually gets them to hang up and not call back.

Leave a sorry wrong number message ?

If your home number was very similar to a local business number and you got several calls a month for them would you

Tell the caller " sorry you have the wrong number" ?
I would tell them they have the wrong number. This has happened to me before. You would be surprised how many people then get real pissy with me saying they called the correct number. I would then tell them to "hold please" set down the phone and go back to whatever I was doing.

Give them the correct number ?

Just for Fun:

Do you remember watching American Bandstand on TV ?

Once or twice.

What is your earliest childhood memory ?

Probably when I got the stitches out of my head. Do not remember getting them put in.
I vaguely rememebr when a drunk ran into our car when it was parked in front of the house.

Do you remember how old you were ?

I was three. There are a couple vague memories that might have been when I was two.

Karla - so glad you had fun with NWV & the crew...and that I can't sleep!

Electronic email birthday cards from close family members

Love them ?
Don't like them, you can't hold a e-card ?
Sigh,Oh well at least they remembered ?

Boy...the times they are a-changin', eh? I guess I should go with the 3rd option, but there is something sort of ...IDK, lazy? about it all.
My favorite cards are still the construction paper & crayon models my nieces & nephews send - "priceless" as they say.

Do you live to eat or eat to live ?
lol ok I know this is going to get some of those little faces so let me rephrase

Do you look upon eating as a 5 senses experience ?
or
Time to refuel, and grab what ever is handy ?
It's situational - most days all I have time for is refueling, & I do a lot of eating while working/traveling. But I really do treasure the times
when a meal gets the attention it deserves; in time, content, and company. Breaking bread with someone you care for is truly a blessing.

If you dial a wrong number and the answering machine picks up do you

Leave a sorry wrong number message ?
Yes - that was me sounding foolish on your machine the other night...I know you probably wouldn't have cared if I just hung up...but I have
this need to explain myself - in case you couldn't tell here on the QOD!

Do you remember watching American Bandstand on TV ?
LOL!!! Loved how the kids would rate a song by it's dance-ability!

What is your earliest childhood memory ?
Do you remember how old you were ?
Don't remember the age - maybe 2 or 3 - I was in the back yard with my older siblings playing with our new German Shepherd Kristy.
I was wearing a pink corduroy jumper...although I might only remember that part because I saw it in a photo.

1916 - 222 points are scored in a football game between Georgia Tech and Cumberland University of Lebanon, Tennessee
Well no wonder college football is so big in TN!!!

Word of the Day:
burgeon \BUR-juhn\ , verb:
1. To grow or develop quickly; flourish.
2. To begin to grow or blossom.
noun:
1. A bud; sprout.
At least where the verb is considered...my backside comes to mind.
Definitely doesn't when the word is used as a noun!

[quote=Karla with a K;11079059]Good morning everyone
Happy Wednesday
As I mentioned in yesterdays thread I am wide awake and we all know that means I am probably going to sleep late soooooo

Works for me Karla! I'm supposed to drive home to the Cape tomorrow, but it's going to be raining cats and dogs, so I may put off driving til it subsides a bit. This area in Maine is to get 1.5 inches or so and it's to pour all the way down my drive home. UGH!! Move over, I'll sleep in late with ya!

How about a jump start on

Today's Question(s):

Electronic email birthday cards from close family members

Love them ? Wouldn't be too knocked out about it from a spouse (if I had one, or my BF ((if I had one!! lol)), or my daughter), but other than that, I'd be tickled to just be remembered by anyone who cared enough to find one they thought suited me.

Don't like them, you can't hold a e-card ? I love e-cards! My favorites are http://rubberchickencards.com ...can I put that in there like that??? I have a 3 year subscription to them and use them often.

Sigh,Oh well at least they remembered ? Exactly!

Bonus Question:

Do you live to eat or eat to live ? Mostly eat to live, but if I'm getting together with good friends to enjoy a good time, food is always a part of the celebration.

lol ok I know this is going to get some of those little faces so let me rephrase

Do you look upon eating as a 5 senses experience ? If I'm out to dinner or have cooked an especially nice dinner, then it's the 5 senses thing.
or
Time to refuel, and grab what ever is handy ? If I'm on the run, then it's refueling!

Extra Credit Question:

If you dial a wrong number and the answering machine picks up do you

Hang up ? Depends on the message on the answering machine! If it's Satan's Sex Parlor, I'm hanging up!!!

Leave a sorry wrong number message ?

If your home number was very similar to a local business number and you got several calls a month for them would you

Tell the caller " sorry you have the wrong number" ?

Give them the correct number ? I'd get my phone number changed.

Just for Fun:

Do you remember watching American Bandstand on TV ? I was never a big fan. I think I was a little too young when it was in its hey day.

What is your earliest childhood memory ? One is getting 12 chicks for easter when I was 4 years old.

Today in History:
1856 - Cyrus Chambers, Jr. patents folding machine that folds book and newspapers - Now if they could just invent one that folds laundry !!!

1955 - Aircraft carrier USS Saratoga at Brooklyn launched - I have been on this carrier
1957 - "American Bandstand" premieres HA! That's the problem! I was born in 56!

Today is:
National Frappe Day YASSAH!! That's GREAT!!!
Cats on Broadway Day The play?
National Flower Day Awwwwwww....
Bring Your Teddy Bear To Work Day I didn't have a teddy bear, I had a stuffed dog that I adored.
