I was all of 6 years old, and we lived in a tiny house trailer that had a very small living room. But we did have this old black and white tv whose picture was terrible at best. And yes, we had the famous tin foil on the rabbit ears! My mother called me inside from playing outside in my favorite spot under the Mimosa tree. She had the tv on and was sitting down on the huge old brown vinyl couch and I remember thinking, this is strange, moma never turns on the tv before daddy gets home and she never sits down on the couch when she is cleaning.....

There, on that old grainy tv set was a picture...I remember my moma telling me that this was history being made right before our very eyes....

I'll never forget watching that day.....the seriousness of how she was taking it all in clued me in to something big happening....wow

I was 12 and at school in the Cotswolds, in England.

I remember that at lunchtime, when we were all having school dinners in the main hall, they had brought in a TV set for us to see a moon walk.

It just seemed so surreal.

I was listening on one of those portable AM Tranister radios. I was probably excited.

Today I realize what blatant waste of money it is. Sending trillions of dollars to the moon when we now know there is no resources there. No life, no plants, no water......nothing. But we keep on going to bring home more rocks and study how an orange or an apple rots while sitting on the moon. Very important stuff.

Imagine what all that money can do to put a fire under this economic depression. Imagine how many hungry it could feed, healthcare and on and on.

Not sure how old I was but do remember being on a plane, on the way to Japan, when we were hearing about the coverage via the pilot over the speaker. He then told us they landed on the moon and the whole plane cheered. That was an unforgettable trip.

Okay, I have to ask.. what kind of plane was it, and which airline?

At that time it would have been either a Boeing 707, or a Douglas DC-8. The Boeing 747 hadn't gone into service yet.
