Table. I like to be able to situate my chair where I feel comfy. I dont want to get up, or ask others to get up, to leave the table. Booths always feel broken, underbutt, and have slippery surfaces. Can't hook your heels underneath them. Somebody has to sit with a wall against their elbow. Too hard to look at somebody when your companion says "Don't look now, but . . ."". Kids in the adjacent booth kicking your seatback.
This is not about reastaurant booths, but it is a hilarious story that I cant resist telling. I was traveling with 4 or 5 backpacking companions on a train in Norway, and the rail car was arranged with seating like booths, with little fold down tables between the seats. There were only a couple of other people in our car, so we all just spread out and changed seats according to whom we were chatting with or looking out at the scenery. One of the girls nonchalantly stretched out, arms over her head, and when she put he hands behind her head, she felt someone else's head there. She thought it was one of us, and playfully started feeling around the head, to see who it was. It was this little bald Norwegian man about 80 years old who had just gotted onto the train. You can picture the scene, at the end of which he bemusedly said, in very careful and well-thought-out English, "You are forgiven".
For the most part I probably like booths the best, except when you are out with a large group. Those half circle booths are a pain, because it never fails that the person in the middle will need to go to the bathroom! I have also sat in a booth before with a little kid in the booth behind me that is really hyper - - - - I almost got beat to death!!!
Well i see i'm the only one who chose counter. I just love to sit on those 1950's looking seats that spin around as i'm always spinning in them and like to interact with others along the counter and not be hidden in a booth
Ok,,, just so somebody has said it, and now I’m dating myself.
I remember going through the drive-thru before going to the “drive-in” just to enjoy a movie and save money on that over priced goods they would try and sell you there.
