i wish we had a giant linum vitae tree in the yard!! i have one but its a bonzi.

it takes like one hundred years to get a lignum vitae tree to get like 10 inches in diameter on the trunk.

lignum vitae is the worlds heaviest wood and is so hard that they used to make ship bearings out of it.. and has natural oil that lubricates.

I've always liked the silk tree in my area, also called a mimosa. It's foreign and has an exotic look to it, with exquisite flowers. The shape of the tree itself is unique too, almost like an African savannah tree. Here's a pic to get an idea.

Default Purple Coneflower

Echinacea purpurea (Asteraceae)....grows in the prairies, of SDak, and seems to be doing well, in my flower bed!

I love sunflowers for the way they look. I love jasmine and gardenias for their scent. And palm trees put me in a whole Margaritaville mood. I also love lacy desert trees and plants, and wild grasses. I guess that about covers it.

i have a few baobab trees that i planted like 20 years ago they can live for 5000 years it's one of the oldest living tree species.. they are very rare here in the us vi... i grew like 100 of them from seed and gave them all away exept the few that i planted in the yard.


the diameter of the trunk can reach 40 feet
