In your opinion, is it wo you know or what you know that gets you ahead in life?

Just curious as I have found that all to often it's who you know! ( had some big disappointments ) and then over time there is that reward for what you know as well.

So who or what? - examples please...

It's what "I know"

Of course in some jobs - it's who you know...

I'm starting life over(career that is) so it's What "I know" - that's going to get me ahead.

I think "who you know" gets your foot in the door, but "what you know" opens that door wide.

I think a lot of the times it's about "when " rather than "Who" . I would say a combination of "what" and "when" though some jobs like media, music, tv, etc.. seem to be a "who" sector.

I find a lot of very successful people were in the right place at the right time. Call it luck or simply a fluke but it does seem quite common...

For me, its WHO YOU KNOW. Almost every job I got, in my life, it was always WHO I KNEW that got me in....
