I've gotten this all of my life. Of course, my real name is NOT Ilene. See "where does your username come from" thread. I'm not real crazy about my real name, but it's better than Ilene.

I have been told I look like a Sharon, over and over again. How do you look like a name?

I've even had people CALL me Sharon. Whatup with this? Was I a Sharon in another life?

So anyone else experience this?

Nicknames?

Dodger
Coca-Cola
Ra
Tree
Krytter
Krispy

among others, including (from a totally stoned young woman in the 60's) "Brick wall with a single rose growing over it" said in a somewhat stuttered way like the silly way they pronounced Indian names on old TV shows. That one unfortunately stuck with me for over a year.

Hmm, my dad used to call me Turd Bird!! Please tell me the whole "looking like a name" thing doesn't hold true!!

Ok, seriously now - - - I have been called Becky quite a few times. It's not close to my real name, so I don't know what the deal is there. I had a plumber that used to come in our office that would call me Becky, so I started to call him Tom (his name was Bruce)!! It was our little joke!

Probably every name in the book... and those were the good names!

Whenever somebody starts a question out by saying "Has anyone ever told you..".. that sounds like the beginning of a .. pick up line, except of course I'd like to hear that from a woman.

To answer the question, I don't recall anybody ever telling me that, and I'm happy to have the name of the Arch Angel Michael.. and I'm definitely glad I wasn't given the name of that other angel, Lucifer..

My mother wanted very much to name me Dorian but, she let my Dad choose my name. I like his choice much, much better. I wasn't given a middle name (neither of my parents like middle names). I really wish my middle name would have been Elizabeth.
