I think there are a great many entertainers and media people out there who are more than willing to lay down personal class for public money. That makes them stingy. If we choose to watch them with nothing to gain financially.....that makes us just plain old stupid. I avoid all of them.

Who said anything about rape? It was bad taste, but he made that joke in reference to the older daughter, not the young one, from what I understand.

People really listen to David Letterman?

I tuned him out well over 20 years ago when he came off as a bitter old man back then. Can't imagine he's improved any.

He made a "joke"... it didn't get laughs so he apologizes simply to appease. A sincere apology? I doubt it.

What the hell is SP doing draging the military into this debacle with Letterman??? What does their fighting for our freedoms have to do with a bad joke Letterman told???

Am I missing something here?

I think all these calls for him to be fired are ridiculous. Okay, the comment was a little tasteless, but there is much, much worse out there. He didn't say anything about rape or molestation or any of that rubbish. It was a jokey, offhand comment that probably shouldn't have been said, however people need to loosen up a bit. From the outcry over it, you'd have thought he went into explicit detail or something. I can't stand it when people are so tetchy.

Default Don't stir the $h!t or it will stink more.

Bad joke from Letterman shouldn’t cause this much stink. The more Palin stirs it the more it smells bad for her and Letterman. Isn’t there a few OTHER important life threatening issues in this country that need to be dealt with before a “bad joke” issue.

I hear bad comments from too many other radio and tv commentators that cause damage and it gets little or no coverage. Letterman is an entertainer and host, you can watch his show or turn it off, some of the other talk radio and tv hosts are much worse and never get called on it.

What issues are important and what aren’t.

Nobody should be fired, I'm not a fan of Letterman, nor do I watch his show, but he made a mistake with that joke and he apologized for it. Case closed - There are more important matters/issues that need our attention.

The number of people to watch The tonight show rise after Letterman confessed and apologized light and cheap.

CBS won't fire him because he is still bringing money in for the franchise.

What a trash to make fun of other people while he himself is doing exactly the same things to his employee and wife.
