This mother's day weekend we were looking around to see what we could do that would be fun. We visited a main street area that is refurbished nostolgically with shops and restaurants. While we were there we made a discovery.

We got a chance to partake of the vintage railroad in Grapevine, Texas, a suburb of Dallas/Fort Worth.

I realize that the folks who run it are there to make a living, but it struck me as a happy thing that people go through so much effort to recreate the look and feel of an old-fashioned train ride.

Also, it is a pleasure for those of us who appreciate history and trying to understand what life was like for ordinary people in the past. Yes, we may not ever know exactly what our forbearers experienced, but it's nice to try!

What's made you happy this mom's day weekend or any day?

This Mom's Day weekend, my oldest son told me he just got engaged to be married with the date set for October.

On a historical nostalgia note, I remember a vacation my Dad took us on one summer. He was a huge fan of traveling to new places for vacation and this time was out West.

We were at Boot Hill and got to take a wagon ride on a vintage wagon down a dusty street and thru the town. It was rough going, the bumpy ride almost throwing us out of that wagon, but I still remember it and the fun we had that day.

My mother's day was really good. I mean we did not do anything much but my kids made me some beautiful pictures at school and gave them to me. I got to take a nap and my DH changed all the twins diapers that day! LOL that was great!

Those all sound good.

Lacey, isn't it wonderful when a child is at that innocent age?

Stacie a mom's day is all about the feelings, so kids pictures from school is a winner! As for the diapers

aiangel, congratulations on your son's engagement. I hope the new couple will be genuinely happy. Also, your wagon ride reminded me of a childhood stagecoach ride I had forgotten. Thanks

Mother's day - Our local wild animal rehab center had a Mother's Day celebration. We went there, took a tour of the place and had an awesome breakfast! It was the whole extended family, so there were 23 of us!! My kids made some really neat things for me, so all in all it was a good day!!
