DALLAS - Authorities say a 26-year-old passenger ran to the front of a taxiing plane, opened a door and slid down to the tarmac before being detained.
American Airlines spokesman Tim Smith says the man — who was not injured — was among 87 passengers aboard Flight 1343 from Charlotte, N.C., to Dallas on Tuesday.

He had better hope that they declare him crazy. If not, it's going to cost him a lot of money. It was an MD-80 type aircraft. Once a slide is deployed, it costs the airline roughly 50 grand for the process of testing, repacking, and recertifying a slide before it can be put back in service.
At the very least American Airlines will ban him from their flights for life. All other airlines will most likely place him on their do not fly lists too.
