I'll lighten up a little for a moment

Do you remember when watching I Love Lucy (for instance) and there were twin beds in the bedroom? If Ricky and Lucy were starting the scene as a just waking up in the morning, they each got out of a twin bed. Now the commercials are folks in underwear. Here comes the soapbox now...I knew absolutely nothing about the "Birds and the Bees" until my mid to late teens. Which was great IMO. I couldn't be curious about something that hadn't been planted into my thought proccesses yet. Kept me out of trouble. But children aren't allowed to be innocent any longer. They're exposed to commercials about feminine products, STD's, Birth Control, Viagra, even with a catchy jingle (viva viagra) Now at first they do not have a clue as to what this information is on the T.V. So in some cases they are going to ask out loud "Mom / Dad what is that? Again my point is "
the children"
Sex Ed ?? why does it have to be thrown in their faces so young? Then all the violent programs on TV, The filthy language, even burger king commercials show people doing "rage type" actions; all for a burger.
My daughter is 30, her twins are 11. She is having a difficult time with keeping them to keep their language clean. They must feel like "what is wrong with mum, everyone talks like that"
I seem to remember as a kid the motto was GOD & COUNTRY God has been pushed aside. Our founding fathers had God as as their first thought and priority then clean respectful & hard working living after. Children were taught how to work the land, hunt for food, girls were taught how to keep and maintain a home and care for a family. I wish I could plant and see the fruits of my labor grow..my thumb is so brown I could cry. I do not know how to knit, sew, crochet or any of that.
Of course there was slavery at one time. I feel that was one of the biggest horrendous acts of white mankind in the U.S.
Gee Tinman I normally keep my opinions to myself. But it does feel good to get it off my chest (as the saying goes).
Seems like now a days if it isn't conveinent to what
I..Me..Self..wants it's o.k. to
Take it any means available. BUT if you are an officer of the law, how you handle crime suspects is going to be investigated by internal affairs AND the public. Yes there are "Bad Cops" but every little thing is under a microscope.
Add to that...a person breaks into yor home, they beat you, rob you, and whatever else...you fight back or your dog protects the home. Perp gets hurt...perp sues and wins the court case against you ??? What is wrong with this picture?
Then there is the trimming of law enforcement, emergency services, veterens assistance, military services, health care services. I worked in health care for 14 years. We were always under staffed. Couldn't get to a paitents call light/bell in a timely manner most of the time. Or a resident in a nursing home.
I guess I feel there is alot going wrong here in our good ol U.S.A.
There are a few other subjects I am passionate about that I will not go into. But for now I'll go and grab another cup of coffee and simmer myself down and reflect on that which is still good in this world. (for now).
P.S. it was IVORY SOAP in my mouth. : )
