Did you schedule an important event on the date of another important date? And then regret doing that later?
I did. I scheduled my wedding day on my birthday. Neither of us had a very good memory and I thought this would be one less date either of us would have to remember.
Folks, don't ever do that.
My husband died and now when people wish me a happy birthday, my mind automatically hears "Happy Anniversary!" It's not a nice thing to say to a widow or widower.
My pet peeve is that people don't accept that I don't want them to know when my birthday is - for that very reason. They automatically think it is age-related and go into a dissertation about age... Why can't people just accept a straight answer and move on to another subject? AAAAGGGGHHHHH!

My Pet Peeve: Any one that telephones our home and hangs up w/o saying a word. Ughhhhhhhh. This happens way too often. No we do not have caller I.D. that costs $'s. You know, they could at least say anything, something.
My husband used to pride himself on being the ugliest man in the company (over 100,000 employees for this particular company). When he was very ill and on medical leave, the department made a huge "get well" card for him and everyone signed it. One of his friends wrote on it, "Jim, please get well soon. Without you here, I'm the ugliest man in the company!! Hurry Back!" That made him laugh for the first time in about a month. I'll take an "ugly" man any day of the week. In my experience, the handsome ones aren't worth a paper napkin.
I have one, it's more of a irritant rant but here it is, returning favors, it's deals with on-call work favors, someones on call for sunday night, they ask me if I will cover so they can go out of town, I always say yes, but then if I ask I hear this big cry baby whine about yeah I'll do it, I'll sit at home sunday night but i wanted to go out blah, blah, blah at this point I want to start cussing at them but I just say forget it. An example was this weekend, my son went to sacramento for an interview with the state and can't return until monday, I think he was a little lonely going by himself, I ask a guy that I have covered for many times to cover sunday night so i could go to keep him company, Blah, Blah, blah and the crying starts, so just say blanky blank forget it, so now I'm home and he's there. I guess my pet peeve is that people want a favor but don't want to pay it back.
Sorry, rant over
