Do you know anyone (visiting or living) in California ? Yes my daughter, son in law, grand daughter and lots of extended family and friends.
If so, have you heard from them about the recent spate/outbreak of wildfires ? Yes,the smoke where they live comes and goes depending on the wind.

Extra Credit:
Do you have a mouse pad ? Not for my lap top but have one for my desk top.
If so, do you still use it ? Did you buy it, or get it for free (for instance, as promotional gift) ? I use it, I think I bought it.
Do you have a drawer or box of misc. wires, connecting cables, cords, chargers, adapters, etc. ? Oh my gosh, yes

Not a square one, but “wrist rest/support”, so is a long strip of cushy foam material.

Yes, bought at dollar store many years back.
Only began using it lately, with my new glass-topped desk, which mouse doesn’t work on.
