I Googled, "Top 40 Songs" and got the Billboard Top 100 Songs lists. Listening to a couple of the songs, I just did not get with it! In fact, I hate most modern music nowadays! The latest music I liked were from Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, but I nearly hate or don't like 93% of the music on the current Top 100 list. I guess that's the songs that are popular with the current young generation. Man, do they listen to Moderator cut: . music!

Take a look: Music: Top 100 Songs | Billboard Hot 100 Chart | Billboard

But I'm from the old generation that was in HS during the awesome 1980's! Yeah, I'm 48 years old and I'm not ashamed to listen to old music in front of kids. Especially when they listen to crap rap / hip hop / or whatever that is.

Hey, I'm even older than you are (68), and I can relate. I had to end my subscription to Rolling Stone when the rock stars they were writing about were mostly acts I'd never heard of or whose music didn't appeal to me. When the Top 100 list started to look like "Top 100 Songs Bayarea4 Has Never Heard Of," I knew I was officially turning into a geezer. And that was way back in the 1980s! I mostly listen to oldies these days.

Not all current music is bad. I don't like about 97% of top 40. Can't stand Katy Perry. I'll tolerate Swift a little bit. Sometimes I turn on the top 40 pop station in the morning while getting dressed and I end up turning it right back off.

Try other genres. I love indie pop. I'm not very "young" either.
