We made it to the last month of 2016, the one with all the holidays. Let's celebrate with . . . I saw Mama kissing Santa Claus
Today's Question(s): Have you ever had to deal with someone who believes he or she is perfect? Yes
If so, can you tell us anything about it or either way what you make of that type? In fact, the last boss I had. She was new to the company but she had a degree, don't ya know. I was talking to her one day and she said that now that she had been with the company 1 year she knew everything about all the various job functions- in detail. I smiled - there isn't anyone on this earth that would know that in 1 year - absolutely impossible - especially when you have never had any hands on experience in any of them - she was a Director -- far removed from all tasks. This arrogance just got worse and worse.
Bonus Section: It's that giving time of year. So tell us do/did you:
-Give a percentage of your income to charity?
-Have a donation deducted from your paycheck?
-Set aside money for charity on a regular basis?
-Just give something now and then?
-Drop coins in a box at a cash register?
-Donate unwanted clothes, furniture, etc.?
-Volunteer your time or skills?
-Other?
-Charity, what's that?
Extra Credit:
Have you ever taken care of a neighbor's pet(s) or picked up their mail, etc. while they were out of town? &
Have you or yours ever been a baby/pet/house-sitter or employed any of those? Pet house sitter - it was next door and I stayed at my house. Also baby sat a lot as a young person.
Any sitter or sitting memory to share?
Foodie Questions: A food you usually only have this time of year: Turkey
Yea or nay:
Coconut covered chocolate? I eat Almond Joys - chocolate covered coconut
Macadamia nuts?
Peppermint ice cream? No
Neapolitan ice cream in the USA is usually strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate.
---> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neapolitan_ice_cream
-Are those okay or what 3 flavors would you like to see combined in one container? Banana - strawberry - chocolate
Just for fun: Have you ever had shag carpet in your home or vehicle? Yes - a very very very long time ago - shag in an apartment
If so, what color(s)? Why, beautiful avocado green, of course <blah>
Today's Question(s): Have you ever had to deal with someone who believes he or she is perfect? Yes, I had a boss like that. You couldn't tell him anything. If you dared to disagree with him or question him, he would shout you down.
If so, can you tell us anything about it or either way what you make of that type? One time I was in a meeting with him about my work schedule. We couldn't come to any agreement, and he was getting more and more angry as I gave him reasons why I needed to keep my current days off. He got louder and louder and tried to interrupt me every time I spoke.
Finally I said, "Would you let me finish my sentence?"
"NO!" He shouted.
I got up and said,
"Then obviously we're not getting anywhere, so let's finish this conversation when you calm down."
And then I walked out. I got to keep my schedule, by the way.
Bonus Section: It's that giving time of year. So tell us do/did you:
-Give a percentage of your income to charity? Not a fixed percentage, but we do give to good causes.
-Have a donation deducted from your paycheck? N/A, we're both retired.
-Set aside money for charity on a regular basis? No
-Just give something now and then? Yes
-Drop coins in a box at a cash register? Not usually
-Donate unwanted clothes, furniture, etc.? Yes, when I can get it together to pack up all the stuff and drive it to a donation station.
-Volunteer your time or skills? I have done a little bit of sporadic volunteering, but not on a regular basis. I recently donated a DNA sample for a medical study on Alzheimers.
-Other? Now and then we give money to street people who seem legit, but as a rule I don't like to do this.
-Charity, what's that? N/A
Extra Credit: Have you ever taken care of a neighbor's pet(s) or picked up their mail, etc. while they were out of town? Yes, I have done cat sitting and mail pickup for friends.
Have you or yours ever been a baby/pet/house-sitter or employed any of those? As a teenager I babysat.
Any sitter or sitting memory to share? Only that after the kids were asleep it was nice to spend a quiet, peaceful evening at someone else's house and get paid for it. I loved being away from all the craziness at home, and I would happily entertain myself with whatever books and magazines as I could find.
Foodie Questions: A food you usually only have this time of year: Lebkuchen, stollen, gingerbread men, jam thumbprint cookies
Yea or nay:
Coconut covered chocolate?
Macadamia nuts?
Peppermint ice cream? They're all good. How about some chocolate-covered peppermint coconut macadamia ice cream?
Neapolitan ice cream in the USA is usually strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate.
---> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neapolitan_ice_cream
-Are those okay or what 3 flavors would you like to see combined in one container? Ugh. Neapolitan ice cream is my absolute least favorite flavor. My stepmother used to buy it all the time. When she wasn't looking, her kids would sneak into the freezer and dig out the chocolate ice cream. Just for fun: Have you ever had shag carpet in your home or vehicle?
If so, what color(s)? My first car was a '66 Volkswagen Beetle with blue-green shag carpet. I also installed squares of green shag carpet in the bathroom of my first apartment. Ug-lee!
Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit!
Today's Question(s): Have you ever had to deal with someone who believes he or she is perfect? Don't think so.
If so, can you tell us anything about it or either way what you make of that type? If someone thinks they're perfect they have to be extreme narcissists.
Bonus Section: It's that giving time of year. So tell us do/did you:
-Give a percentage of your income to charity? I just try to beat or match what I did the year before, if I can.
Extra Credit: Have you ever taken care of a neighbor's pet(s) or picked up their mail, etc. while they were out of town?
Have you or yours ever been a baby/pet/house-sitter or employed any of those For us singles who have to or like to travel, trustworthy people who'll take care of out pets and schtuff are really important. I make sure to pay them really well.
Any sitter or sitting memory to share? One time I came home after a trip to a workshop at the Art Institute in Chicago. I had caught a terrible cold there, and when I called the pet sitter to tell her I arrived I must have sounded pretty awful. I heard her say to her husband "she's crying!", and he whispered "well, record the call." They must have thought that I was crying about what I'd found when I arrived home. Thank goodness that wasn't the case! Just a severe case of fancybuildingairconditioning-itis.
Foodie Questions: A foof you usually only have this time of year: A "foof" is when you blow a raspberry on someone's skin, and I've foofed a time or two ! As for foods I only have this time of year: chocolate isn't fattening if you eat it near a holiday!
Yea or nay:
Coconut covered chocolate?
Macadamia nuts? meh
Peppermint ice cream? but it's too cold to think about ice cream today, brrrrrr.
Neapolitan ice cream in the USA is usually strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate.
---> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neapolitan_ice_cream
-Are those okay or what 3 flavors would you like to see combined in one container? More brrrrrr. Um, how about remove the strawberry and replace it with cinnamon?
Just for fun: Have you ever had shag carpet in your home or vehicle? Couple of times in ratty apartments. You just reminded me that when I lived in NYC our 5th floor walkup had shag carpeting, and one of my roommates from LA thought that we should rake it with a plastic rake to keep it looking good. So she did that, which I thought was gross.
If so, what color(s)? I think gold and browny.
Thanks, BJH! Yay, it's December!
