Lol I actually do have quite a few already...
And I just got off the phone w/ a relative who is actually a published author....
Picking his brain on my book--
That will be my next claim to fame
I talked to Joan Crawford on the telephone. (She knew my boss and had called his private line, but he was out of town so I took the call.) She was warm, gracious and had such a beautiful speaking voice. I'll never believe that she was the monster portrayed in Mommie Dearest. Around the office she was known as "JC," and we were not allowed to keep Coca-Cola in the office fridge, only Pepsi.
I once rode on an elevator with Paul Simon, just the two of us. His office was directly above ours, and we used to be able to hear him playing piano. His secretary gave me an LP once after she borrowed some sugar from us. Paul was just about eye-level with me, which surprised me because I am only 5'2". He made some joking remark about what I was wearing, but I was too bashful to think of a witty response.
A friend of mine was an apprentice film editor, and in the next editing suite George Harrison was working on editing the Concert for Bangladesh film. I came by to pick up my friend for dinner, and while I was waiting for her I stood in the doorway of George's suite and watched him and his editor running footage of Billy Preston through the Moviola. I'd been told that it was OK to stand there, but not to try to talk to George or disturb him in any way. At one point George looked up briefly and saw me, and I was floating on air for days afterward because a Beatle looked at me!
