The only thing my cats like to steal from each other is treats. Otherwise, one or both eat too fast and throw up. Yuck, just heard Bridget, gotta go clean up

Our cat will do that once in a great while. There's no competition for the food anymore, so I don't know why he has to wolf it down. It's not like he's starving; the vet weighed him last month and he's a solid 18 pounds.
I don't have any pets, but having Mr. Bay around is a lot like having a dog. Whenever he hears any crunching, clinking, rattling or other sounds coming from the kitchen, he's there in a flash with a hopeful expression on his face. He thinks he's going to get fed.
My one cat gets fed on the dining room table and the other prefers the tray table in front of the TV....neither are allowed near the plate on the floor that I use!

Great tips. Thanks, Pam!
That must be common to the Bay Area as I have one also. But, they do seem to be able to distinguish feeding time from washing the dishes time, which make similar noise.
We are making light of the feeding issues, but my neighbor told me how upset she was when one of her mother's dogs died in the back yard. When it was determined the one starved to death charges were brought against the mother. The daughter pulled every trick in the book to get the charges dropped since it wasn't her mother's fault that she didn't notice one of the dogs was food agressive. Somehow, everyone forgot about the suffering dog. I have to wonder how long it takes a dog die of starvation? Or, how can people be so (blank) stupid?
If you have both a cat and a dog in your home, you may have had a problem with your dog eating some or all of the cat's food. If that happens often enough, you could end up with a portly pooch and a skinny cat. You can easily remedy this problem by feeding your cat on a counter, out of reach of the dog.
That is precisely what we do here.
Haha ^. I have two cats - one svelte and one a bit portly. Surprisingly, it's the thinner cat who is more aggressive, but she paces herself with eating. Whereas her sister can't walk past the food bowl without stopping to graze.
Almost a year ago I purchased an automatic feeder that's on a timer. Now my kitties are served a portion of food twice a day, 5:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. It has worked out great, and the chubbier cat has slimmed down a little. The thinner one now knows to go to the dish first when she hears the dispenser run. She eats a small portion and then her sister consumes the rest.
