With another recall in the last couple of days, it makes me really nervous to purchase toys this Holiday season. Luckily, my youngest is 8 so I don't have to worry about my kids sucking on their toys but I have 2 great nieces that are very young and I am at odds as to what to get them.

Not sure what you consider very young, but if they live close by your time will make the best gift. Perhaps a trip to a local attraction? A "girl's day" for haircuts/shopping/lunch? Books? Savings bonds?
I have no children to shop for these days, but I try to buy American whatever I buy. It isn't easy, but Mom & Pop type shops tend to have things not mass produced in China.
I got in just under the wire and was able to purchase those bead kits from China that have the beads made up of date rape drugs. I will be making up necklaces- a grown up version of the candy necklace- for the stoners in my family.
One cousin who thinks her kid is to so brilliant and is always gloating about it- getting some toys with lead paint for THAT little angel. I think I will go to some thrift stores and look for some good old toys from my past- lawn darts, potato guns, Creepy Crawler makers.
Seriously, it has gotten to be ridiculous. The fact that major toymakers' products are being recalled is the most scary- they were asleep at the wheel.
I'm glad that my kids are older, but still must watch out.
I'm not lawsuit-happy, but those major toy makers should get sued big time- that is horrible, the trust that people have, the revenuethat they have made and their lack of oversight.....no excuse.
And about toys made in America- many products have pieces or parts made in other countries. I don't know that I would have much more confidence in toys marked "made in America".
ya really gotta watch this kid's stuff comin' outta China....here is the very latest recall, a kiddie slide that, well, just ain't very safe lookin'
Love it, I tried to rep ya but I have to spread the love.
