The thing I notice is if you are just brousing and want to be left alone, they want to "help" you, but if you need to find someone to help you, you cannot find a salesperson anywhere.
We call this the Home Depot Principle. HD is full of men who are poised to explain things to you, unless you need them to, then they are all at lunch or helping others.
I think sometimes pushy folks are just desperate to do a good job. These days their jobs may very well depend upon the sale.
On the other hand, there are those who just seem to be born that way. Those are the ones I refer to as "Snake oil Salesmen".
Have you ever bought something that you really didn't want, or perhaps not been able to drag yourself away from someone giving a sales pitch? No for both those things! Pushy salesmen
I can deal with pushy salesmen. One thing that gives me the creeps is a woman (selling things or otherwise) doing the Blanche DuBois fake sweet little girl voice thing which often includes touching or grabbing a sleeve. Pushiness is tolerable but not fake sweetness.
I’d like to look for a good used car at a dealership however because of the salesmen that act like vultures when I want onto the lot I’ll pass.
