Good morning peevers.

It's the lull before the storm today with a reasonable amount of snow forecast for tomorrow.

I might head out today to try a new car that has just been released. I asked the sales chap, who I know, to tell me when a demo model came in.

The fact that I know him and the fact that I am not worried about dealing with sales people makes me comfortable about the situation.

However, have any of you felt pressurised by sales people?

Have you ever bought something that you really didn't want, or perhaps not been able to drag yourself away from someone giving a sales pitch?

Let us know because the POTD is;

Pushy salesmen.

A quick way to get me to walk out of a store is for someone to even think about pressuring me to buy something

The thing I notice is if you are just brousing and want to be left alone, they want to "help" you, but if you need to find someone to help you, you cannot find a salesperson anywhere.
We call this the Home Depot Principle. HD is full of men who are poised to explain things to you, unless you need them to, then they are all at lunch or helping others.

I figure either the boss is watching or they get payed by commission.

Either way, I'm gone.

I agree. Usually, when I buy something, I have done the research before hand and do not require a salesperson to direct me to a different product.

Even if they own the product themselves.

I think sometimes pushy folks are just desperate to do a good job. These days their jobs may very well depend upon the sale.
On the other hand, there are those who just seem to be born that way. Those are the ones I refer to as "Snake oil Salesmen".

Great peeve Jezer!

Pushy salesmen

I can deal with pushy salesmen. One thing that gives me the creeps is a woman (selling things or otherwise) doing the Blanche DuBois fake sweet little girl voice thing which often includes touching or grabbing a sleeve. Pushiness is tolerable but not fake sweetness.

I had to shoot out before I could post any photos.

I wasn't sure what to show, but in anticipation of some possible snow tomorrow here are a couple of snowy shots;

I’d like to look for a good used car at a dealership however because of the salesmen that act like vultures when I want onto the lot I’ll pass.
