No CD What to do? *twiddling thumbs*

Today's Question:
City-Data was down from yesterday afternoon (US time) to ? some time this a.m.
What did you do in the interim to fill the void:

Play pinochle? - or any other games

Fire off a letter to your congressman? - or anyone else?

Read a book or magazine? - which one?

Jump on a trampoline? - or a bus or plane?

Visit other websites? - which ones?

Other?

What Would You Do?
It was suggested to do this type of question so here goes.

What would you do if you encountered someone either in real life or online who uses his or her troubles as an
excuse to mistreat others or to be obnoxious?

Doesn't matter what the troubles are -
-poor finances - Who hasn't struggled btw
-health -we all have health issues and all know that life is temporary
-lousy love life - time for some self-evaluation?
-etc.

Whatever the excuse for poor behavior, do you:
-go along with it?
-try to get them to see their behavior as inappropriate?
-avoid them?
-other?
Enlighten us with what you would do

Super Bonus Extra Question:
What is the last bittersweet experience you had?

Just for fun:
On this day in 1984 the famous Wendy's "Where's the Beef?" commercial premiered.
What are some of your favorite funny commericals for any kind of product?

Hellooooooooooo Everybodeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Today's Question:
City-Data was down from yesterday afternoon (US time) to ? some time this a.m.
What did you do in the interim to fill the void: LOL! I actually played a bunch of geography games on SPORCLE, Chatted with a friend on Facebook and made some phone calls. It was weird not having CD but life did go on in the Chatterdome

Play pinochle? - or any other games Sporcle.com - played several of their geography games ... so addicting and they have games in most topics.

Fire off a letter to your congressman? - or anyone else? LOL! Nope!

Read a book or magazine? - which one? Nope but should have read a book instead

Jump on a trampoline? - or a bus or plane? LOL! Not that time of night

Visit other websites? - which ones? SPORCLE.com

Other?

-avoid them? This is what I've done with family members that mistreated me because THEY were having a rough time.

Sometimes ya feel like a nut ... sometimes ya don't

Just a sprinkle a day keeps the odor away ... Have you had your sprinkle today?

I'm sure there's other funnier ones but due to my lack of television, those were the only ones I could think of off the top of my head .... Lame I know

Today's Question:
City-Data was down from yesterday afternoon (US time) to ? some time this a.m.
What did you do in the interim to fill the void:

Read a book. Double Cross: The True Story of The D-Day Spies. But, I did not know C-D was down. Was out from 9:30 to around noon. Then came home and read.

What Would You Do?

Avoid them. I don't usually attract those kind of people because I'm a bad listener. Really nice people always get stuck with them.

I really like this particular commercial with the e-trade baby and the dog. He's probably starting high school by now.

I didn't get to check in until this morning about 10:00 Central time, and C-D was running then. I just kept checking back for the Question between tasks.

I don't have much tolerance for stuff like that. If I know the person is not genuinely hurting and honestly needs sympathy (in which case I will try to re-direct them), I'm sometimes too quick to call them out. I've been known to embarass friends by confronting complete strangers for terrible behavior.

Super Bonus Extra Question:
What is the last bittersweet experience you had?
Saying goodbye to someone who had, with sound mind, made their own medical decisions, made their, peace and was ready to let go. So hard, but so glad I stayed with them until the end.

It might not be the funniest, but the Starbucks commercial with Survivor always made hubby and I laugh.

What would you do if you encountered someone either in real life or online who uses his or her troubles as an excuse to mistreat others or to be obnoxious? In real life, I'd probably be too chicken to step in and do something. You never know whether a stranger might become violent. Here on C-D, I'll give them an infraction and a timeout!

Doesn't matter what the troubles are -
-poor finances - Who hasn't struggled btw

Super Bonus Extra Question:
What is the last bittersweet experience you had? Attending a friend's funeral on December 28th.

What are some of your favorite funny commericals for any kind of product? I loved that "Where's the Beef?" commercial. Currently, I like the Geico commercials with the piggies. From the past, I remember laughing a lot at the Alka-Selzer commercial where the guys moans, "I can't believe I ate the whole thing!"

cox·comb [KOKS-kohm]

I've never heard the word used in this context. "Coxcomb" or "cockscomb" is a brightly-colored flower that some people have in their gardens in my area. I wasn't aware it could also mean a dandy person!

Today Is:
Bittersweet Chocolate Day Oh boy! Oh Boy! Oh boy! My FAVORITE!
Clean Off Your Office Desk Day Mine's not too bad at the moment; could be better, though.
Cut Your Energy Costs Day I'm fairly frugal with utilities all the time. My house is a perfect temperature for serving wine (see Today's Tip).

I would have tried to reason with them, if that didn't work I would avoid them. I have enough drama in my life, I don't need more.

Super Bonus Extra Question:
What is the last bittersweet experience you had? Singing Amazing Grace to DH's Grandpa as he passed away. He smiled at me.....darn it now I'm gonna cry.

Thanks for coming to our rescue bjh. Have a great weekend everyone!

Anyone who has read my posts in Relationships or Non-Romantic Relationships can probably answer this for me, but I'll go ahead: I tell them that their problems do not entitle them to treat other people like garbage. Had your heart broken? So? We all have. It sucks. Now get over it, and stop taking your past failed relationships out on an entire gender. You can't hold all men/women responsible for what one or two individuals did that hurt you. Look at the common denominator--you--and see if there is a pattern. Into each life a jerk or two will fall, but if ALL you attract are losers, and if ALL of your relationships go, and end, the same way, guess whose fault it is?

So there.

I've encountered a few on CD like that, but one that stands out is a person that got kind of snarky at my comments in a "lite"forum that will remain nameless, a year or so ago.(it was not religion or politics) I couldn't figure out what this persons deal was, as I wasn't the only one that they were being snarky too. A few months ago I read that this person's spouse had been really sick, for a long time, and passed away within the past year. I'm glad I didn't get all pissy, and managed to hold my tongue. I now have a better understanding of why they acted the way they did. That has helped me to stay calm, not get offended and lash back at people! Lifes short, have fun you don't know how things will be tomorrow.
