I'm thankful my hubby made it safely back home from his business trip overseas.
And I'm thankful because today my mom's aunt visited my parents, and she hadn't been out of her house for a couple of years because of a bad injury and subsequent deep depression. Maybe this means the end of the tunnel is near for our aunt...

thanks for sharing that one I haven't seen it before I really like this group since my son turned me onto them this past summer.

Today I'm thankful for, about an hour ago, finishing up baking triple batches of 3 different cookies.

Today I'm grateful that I remembered to bring my umbrella with me when I went out-didn't need it, but was glad to have it on hand, just in case. Also relieved (later) that I remembered (at last minute, just before I left for the day) that I'd forgotten my umbrella in waiting room, so went back & grabbed it. That was a close one ! Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat, however the saying goes

Since the OP starts thread w/long list (and because one isn't supposed to post links to competing sites), here are selections from list I wrote of "100 things that make me happy" (originally posted as comment on local website). Updated it by omitting a few entries that were no longer valid, but here are approx. 80 items/experiences for which I'm grateful-
Quote:
List was hard for me to compile not because there are too few things I enjoy, but because I have to narrow it down to only 100 (and I'm trying represent a broad swath of my likes without being dully repetitious). Were I to write this tomorrow (or had I written it yesterday), list might well be (or have been) different.

1. Synonyms & antonyms
2. Libraries (and ours in town, in particular)
3. Browsing books in person, hands on, being able to flip through pages before deciding on one.
4. British comedy
5. British drama
8. Sleep (of a goodly quality & quantity)
9. Indoor plumbing (that which giveth, and that which taketh away)
10. "Magic" scotch tape, the kind with matte (not gloss) surface, that you can write on.
11. Cinnamon-flavored waxed dental floss
13. Not being afraid of the number thirteen
14. The short films of Paul & Sandra Fierlinger (such as "Still Life with Animated Dogs" & "A Room Nearby")
15. "Text-only" pages or versions of sites
16. "Site map" feature (not the same as "map site")-or in books, the tables of contents & indexes
18. Completion
19. Incompletion
20. Cushy pillows
21. Caramel
23. Real sugar, real butter, real salt-and "whole" milk
24. Argyle & houndstooth patterns/designs
27. Interdependence, symbiosis, "win-win outcomes"
28. Serendipitous connection & convergence
29. Remembering
30. Forgetting
31. Recognizing and identifying a face or a voice
32. Conditioner that de-tangles and smells nice
33. Velvet & satin finishes/fabrics
34. Prices that end in something other than the ubiquitous number 9 (as in "X dollars & 99 cents")
35. The cyclicality of the seasons
36. Metallic, fluorescent and/or glow-in-the-dark colors/pigments/coatings
37. Art (and stationary/office) supplies
39. A firm mattress, smooth sheets, and a stretchy blanket
40. Typing when too weary to write, writing when one is too weary to type
41. Pussywillows
42. Thick, plush, absorbent towels
43. Flavored lipgloss
44. The New Yorker magazine
46. Microwaving a mug of tea so that it's piping hot again
47. Asterisks
48. Spirals, labyrinths
49. Self-adhesive stickers/decals/stamps
50. Knowing what everything is in my fridge/freezer, there are no unlabeled products in opaque containers that force one to play guessing games
51. Making lists of things I like
52. Durability, endurance
56. Closed-captioning (I can hear, but captions really aid in my comprehension)
57. Peppermint bark/candy canes
58. Trust that is well-placed
59. Using/displaying something one made oneself
60. Handicrafts that re-use or re-purpose worn-out materials
61. Scrumptious pastries/baked goods
62. Graph paper
63. Words that are fun to say, just because of how they sound
64. Edward Gorey's tastefully macabre illustrations & tales
65. My favorite album, the The's "Infected" (1986)-still sounds timeless to me
66. An enveloping hug from a dear friend
67. Adversity bringing people closer together, without becoming a fearsome mob
68. Cross-disciplinary studies
69. Pink bubblegum (or cotton candy) flavorst
73. A 2-hr. long phone call from a faraway friend
74. Digital clock with green lit display (red numerals look too scary in the dark)
76. Having maps posted on my walls so I can easily find a location
78. Things that I like better as time goes on (and the more I learn)-things that "grow" on you
79. Easy-to-open products/packaging

86. Getting a SASE (for one's anticipated reply (such as a survey) in mail, saves me cost of postage
87. Sticking to a civil discourse (no name-calling) and opting out of "oneupsmanship" ("arms races", wars of words & escalating deeds)
88. Calling a toll-free customer service number and reaching a real live voice on other end
89. Receiving coupons in mail after I complimented-or complained about-a purchase
91. Ice cubes (and those gel-filled moldable icepacks one can refreeze)
92. Direct deposit & ATMs
93. When an email correspondent writes me back
94. Finding out about new book I'm eager to read (such as Dr. Oliver Sacks' "Hallucinations")
95. Reliability-and routines (the ones that are voluntary, that is)
97. Occasionally daring to contribute my opinion online
98. Disclosure
99. Privacy
100. is redacted (please refer to entry #99)
Definitely agree with perspective that any/every day is worth appreciating, a holiday isn't inherently "more" special (that's just my personal opinion, others will have different feeling about it).
Life is tenacious & durable, yet also tenuous & fragile.

The clothing and hair of this group looks much like hippies and somehow that makes them fun to watch. They are the first group I'm enjoying watching as much as listening. Thanks again for your post with timing just right for me to see this group.
