One of my most vivid smell memories - Tonette perms that my mother gave my sister and I on the back porch every summer as soon as school was out! I thought I would suffocate from the ammonia cloud surrounding our little heads!
Mom loved it. She didn't have to do another ponytail or braid again until September.
Ooooh, another childhood smell (and later in my teen years when I used it, LOL) is Aqua Net hairspray. My grandmother used to use it and I loved hanging outside her bathroom when she was spraying her hair.
The smell of hot cashews when you entered the local Woolworths...the smell of the stockyards...the smell of old cars...the smell of a burnt Lionel train transformer...the smell of Grandma's coffee, which was a lot like the smell of the transformer.

Wouldn't it be divine if a store did that these days?!!!

If asked I would assume that Kool-Aid and Bazooka Bubble Gum was still on the shelf. I'm happy to say I never went near a boys athletic locker room!
Smells of your Childhood.. I did not grow up on a farm but about every kid I played with did.. The milking barn was a great place for smells.. Along with the silo and the fermenting silage. Fresh cut alfalfa baled brings back found memories. Most farms for extra income also had apple or peach orchards an pears.
My grandma washed her face with noxema (I still love that smell), and always wore 4-7-11 perfume, probably because it was the only stuff us kids could afford to get her, and she got lots on her birthdays.
My Dads coat when he came in from cutting wood- pine, smoke and cold
My Grandma's fresh baked break
Horses and leather
The smell of barns
River water
Rain
Smells.....Camping in a tent was cool when your a kid..especially with a dog that loves catching things in the middle of the night and bring them back to show you.. Sparky (the dog ) shows up..sticks his head threw the tent flap..and drops an plops something and barks.. like look at what I brought you!!!!! Flash lights on and 3 kids staring at a dog covered in froth & foam coming from his mouth an nose and between us and the dog a 200 pound skunk trying too find a way out and spraying and snarling digging and pawing....Sparky just sitting in the light an door way of the tent and is so proud...tail wagging.
