Were you kicked out of the house? Termite cleanup? Whatever the reason, what's the closest hotel to your home you've stayed in and why? Was it in the same city? Same community? Same city block even?

I never stayed in a hotel other than when traveling. It would feel funny to stay in a hotel in a city where I live. I am sure, I would find other arrangements rather than stay in a hotel.

7 miles from home.

A few years ago I ended up working 40 hours without a break. I finally managed to get 10 hours off but was too tired to drive the 7 miles to my house. The company got me a hotel room at the airport.

Microtel; three miles away.
Water needed to be off for a remodel project and I like to take showers after.

I rented out a Hyatt 5 miles from my home. We put up all the guests for my sister's wedding there (the wedding reception was there) and stayed there ourselves to keep things simple.

When a re-modeling job kept us out of the house for a few days. We stayed at a Motel 3, it was only half as bad as Motel 6.

I stayed in a hotel approximately 16 miles from home three nights (different weekends) last fall because of a weekend class I had that ended at 9pm on Friday night and began again at 8am. Since I did not have a car, I wasn't able to easily do the commuting from my home so the hotel came in very handy for the three weekends that the class met.

11 pm -- main sewer backed up ! Too late to call a plumber or a friend to stay overnight, so checked into a Homewood Suites Hotel 3 miles from my house.
