That would create family upset for sure! Here's what happens when familiarity with the TV is through the remote. Fall asleep on the sofa watching TV. Wake up to the TV loudly blaring. Reach for the remote and can't find it. It's not where you left it! Not under the cushions or throw! Not on the floor! Loud TV is scaring the cats so (finally) rush to the TV to turn it down. Which button? Need reading glasses! Instead I just pulled the power cord. A cat was lying on the remote.

Our first remote was one of the old types that ultrasound units. When the dog walked across the floor in the room her dog tags would make a jingling musical noise and the tv set would turn off or change channels.

Funny comments everyone...lol. I remember my grandfather saying that Zenith made the first TV with a remote but I didn't know the exact year.

The redneck remote is having the wife get him a beer and while she's up, changing the channels.

And now remote control units are to be found everywhere in the house. Except you can't find the one you need to change channel on the TV!

Soon someone will provide a new APP for the smartphones that will allow the user to control his TV from his cellphone. Never lost or misplaced, if you don’t see it on the coffee table just dial your cell phone number to locate the phone.

So how about those new (or at least new to me lol) Smart TVs starting at a paltry $2,999.99 you can buy a new 46" Samsung with voice navigation and gesture control.

For that kind of money I can buy a car lol good thing I'm A-OK streaming everything I want to watch. Do have a good size screen on my laptop, HD and no remote to lose
