I'm sometimes guilty of this myself. <hangs head>

What really peeves me is when people do not bother to thank someone for a gift.......and it's that time of year again with graduation upon us.

So true. When someone doesn't say thankyou I generally respond by saying "you're welcome" to them anyway in a loud voice.

That's a perfectly reasonable way to feel but, for some reason, that's never bothered me personally - although, theoretically, or when it happens to someone else, I do think it's rude.

I look them in the eye and say THANK YOU to them with a stern look. Most time their response is either to say thank you back or your welcome. Either way , they get my message.

I'm starting to like playing the "old" card!!!

I was always told that "manners cost nothing" and i've brought up my children using the same system.

Taking the extra second to look someone in the eye and say "Thank you" is so easy and the response you get is usually one of pleased surprise, well worth the effort.

What really irks me is checking out at the grocery store or other places and the clerk doesn't greet you, acknowledge you and doesn't say thank you. I've been known to say "you're welcome" without the thank you just to simply let them know they should be saying "thank you".

If I do something because I want I do not need to be thanked. If someone asks something but dont thank me, then I wont help another time.

I agree.

I heard a lovely story about a man who opened a door for a woman. She said 'Don't open it for me just because I'm a lady' and, after a moment's thought, he replied 'No, I'm opening it because I'm a gentleman'.

I only learnt to say thanks to guys over this because I read how much it bothers them and how they get angry over it. I do not want them to hold a door for me. I want to open my own doors, lol Except if I have so much troubles with a door that someone can see I am in trouble...

Then I also thanks because I needed help.
