I wonder how many people that are say 30-year olds like going to the mall?
Then again, during working hours, you do find seniors, sometimes married couples, sometimes not, sitting in the food court drinking coffee and chatting. You might also find young people there (perhaps those who have some time off class/work etc.), children with nannies, etc.

I'm 23 and don't really like to do malls that much. Yesterday, is a classic example. I live less than a 3 min drive from a big mall here in Lousiville. I went in and went to three stores spent less than 5 min inside each one bought two U of L shirts and picked up some lunch. I usually find better stuff online anyway.
The social aspect isnt appealing to me either. The only person I've ever gone to a mall with is my mother.
Just like meatloaf said. But I used to work in a mall and am not a fan. And as i said in other threads I tend to wander away in these places, Supermarket included. So if i ever am asked for what i look for a woman, i will say long dark hair, smoldering eyes and good tracking skills to find Drew when he pulls a Batman and disappears when you look away.
Ack, no. If I MUST go shopping, it is with intent...I need this, find it, get in, get out. I am not a shop-for-fun girl, not a browser, and there are about three million places I'd rather be than a mall, and that's just on my short list. Ugh. Hanging out at malls for entertainment is something for teenagers who have no other social outlet.
Love it. I thoroughly enjoy shopping with my husband, for just about anything. Clothes, furniture, heck, even groceries. I LOVE grocery shopping with him.
Edit: I don't go to "hang out"...I go to accomplish shopping for something specific.

Only to buy what I need, and get out. I think the fact malls these days are so generic and boring with all the same stores adds to that too. Back in the day malls had more character. As a kid going to the local shopping centre was almost an outing - I remember being so excited to even just go look at toys. Those were the days. Sometimes I'll just have lunch at the food court.
As I get older I find myself wanting to avoid crowds in general too. Also all those annoying teenagers at the mall.
1) The total sameness of it. I like to buy things from places with character.
2) The total hassle. I can buy just about anything I need from locally-owned retailers. The parking is easy and they know my name. Why brave the traffic?
3) I don't think of shopping as entertainment. I work way too hard for my money to blow it on random stuff to get a retail shopping rush.
I don't love going to the mall, but I go sometimes with my husband. We're both in our 20s. He likes to shop but I just go along. I did the same thing in high school, I went with my friends although I didn't really want to go. But I wanted to spend time with them, and I would end up having a good time whether or not I bought anything.
Last summer I worked at a mall and I saw a variety of people. As usual, in the mornings there would be old folks and in the afternoons there would be high school and middle school kids. On the weekends there were a lot of families and small children. That mall used to be "our mall" for my husband and me but I'm glad it's not now because it got crowded and was rather "ghetto." What I do like about that mall is that the employees would look out for each other and make friends. When we went to the malls on the rich side of town they would be nearly desolate. "Our mall" now is small and not too rich, not too trashy. Malls are a good place to watch people.
