I will add, however, in defense of my yummy Smart Balance spread, that it does not contain any of the evil ingrediants that you speak of! : "Use real butter, not margarine. Besides taste, another reason to use real butter is because margarine and shortening are loaded with hydrogenated fats. Butter is a natural product and contains no hydrogenated fats." .....
I use "Smart Balance Buttery Spread", Original with Flax. One tablespoon gives you 50% of your daily Vitamin D; 35% of your Vit. B6; 20% Vit B12; 20% Vit. E and 10% of Vit. A. Also, 480 mgs. of Omega-3!
While some may argue that it has 13% Saturated Fat, the good outweighs the bad, to me - similar to eating two cans of sardines per week, as the American Heart Association tells us to do for our health. Smart Balance contains NO Trans Fat and no partially hydrogenated oils, no hydrogenated oils.
There, now I'm happy! Back to your regularly wonderful Today's Tip!
(Gee, that was like having a commercial! )
We use Smart Balance with Virgin Olive Oil. Great stuff!!!!
All great tips and good idea to keep reminding about butter being better.
Thing is, I don't bake, haven't baked for years. Now I want fresh baked cookies. I think I'll bake some CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES!
Another hint: if you haven't ever baked your cookies on stoneware... it's the only way to go! perfectly crisp edges and soft in the middle!
