Did you know, on this date in 1861, Florida became the 3rd state to secede from the US? Through a number of procedural requirements, it was readmitted in 1868.

I did not know this, and I loved American History in high school much more than Canadian history...but that was so long ago...Thank you Coastal, for a great DYK!!

Interesting stuff. I hated history when I was young and in school. Now, I find it fascinating. Probably because I've personally witnessed a lot more of it!
