I never had Spam. Back home in TN they were selling a Spam Cookbook at the Library. I guess it's popular there.

What exactly is Spam? What does it taste like?

I've never had it, just sounds icky to me. My S/O likes it though, apparently his mom used to fry it up all the time. So I told him if he decides to take over fighting the crowds at the grocery store on Friday nights, he's more than welcome to buy it and fry some up. It's been six years, and still no spam

Ewww, I haven't had it since I was a kid! Lots of people eat it here. I had a taste several months ago and it was worse than I remember, fat and floor scrapings in a can!!

Spam and Twinkies both are packaged with non-expiration dates and can sit on the shelf for an indefinite period of time, thus they are the some of the best food for you. lol

We had Spam frequently when I was growing up and I continued serving it to my own family when the kids were little. We liked it with pineapple. Today I wouldn't touch it unless there was nothing better available and I was really hungry.

I once had a batch of soap turn out looking like Spam. Still have a bar of it, too. Was pretty good soap, too--very mild and with lots of lather.

I have to admit we used to love it as kids, crisply fried with eggs and toast.

In this part of the world, the elderly ladies mix spam, relish, Miracle Whip (or mayonnaise), and a bit of onion into a tasty mashed mixture which they then daintily spread over bread, and then roll into "fancy sandwiches" for funerals, and country teas. Just wondering is that mixture familiar to anyone else?
