I need to try to keep out of these debates for while due to the fact that I’m very close to throwing my monitor through the window…….…so let’s have some more trivia.

On BBC Radio, there is a programme called “Dessert Island Discs” in which celebrities are marooned on a dessert island for the rest of their lives. They are allowed to take with them:

8 records (single songs not albums)
A book (in addition to the bible)
A luxury (that can’t be of use to aid escape)

Most of the celebrities comment on what a difficult choice it is. Remember, it’s for the rest of your life.

Also, whilst you are on the island there is a storm and the storm is washing away your record. You can save only one record…….which one would it be?

……and please. No silly questions like “How are they going to play records on a dessert island with no electricity. Use your imagination!!

I’ll start the ball rolling with my choices:
RECORDS:

1. Barber – Adagio for strings.
2. Paco de Lucia – Cepa Andaluza.
3. Don McClean – Vincent.
4. Puccini – E lucevan le stele. (aria from Tosca)
5. Albeniz – Asturias.
6. Robert Palmer – Addicted to love.
7. Mascagni – Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana.
8. Mozart – Romanze from Piano Concerto No 20

BOOK:

The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists – Robert Tressell

LUXURY:
A Spanish Guitar.

RECORD TO BE SAVED:

Mascagni – Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana.

Well, what would you take??

Hey, de calvo! Good to see you're out of the corner. How is Eric? Did he get the care package that I sent him?

I have no idea on single song records. Heck, I didn't know that you could even find 45's any more.

Book - How to Suvive on a Desert Island for Dummies

Luxury item - Yacht

Yes he did get the package although he wasn't very impressed with the book you sent "101 Things To Do With a Dead Spider".

You may choose a single track off an album....but not the whole album.

NO, no, no. If a person is allowed - take the Survivor Guy. He can at least keep you alive for 7 days! And after that you know that his crew will be looking for him!

I'll have to think about the rest!

But, luxury item?

Computer with internet connection (so I don't have to break my CD forum addiction Cold Turkey!!) (and no, I won't use it to e-mail someone for help and thus, use as "means of escape," Ok? Only escape from "boredom!" LOL!)

Last edited by kaykay; 07-04-2007 at 08:53 AM.. Reason: clarify intended use of computer connections!

But Weather.....

With Bob Vila, I could have a mansion complete with luxury swimming pool and lush tropical flowers and foliage not to mention a beautiful serene water fall cascading down an artfully aranged creekbed to comfort me, all this without the complexities of daily life and hectic lifestyles from the mainland.

And you know the way areas are being over-ridden with people I won't have long to wait before half the island will be overtaken with condos and people.

AAahhhhh, I feel so relaxed living in your "imagination". But after Bob is done building all of this stuff, can he leave? I find him so annoying!!!!!
