Good morning everyone
Happy Monday

Thanks to G.G. for the great job with the weekend QOTD

I have a 5 1/2 hour meeting downtown this morning so I better get moving and ask

Wow, that's a long meeting!!

Today's Question(s):
G.G. mentioned family reunion so lets find out about yours

When was the last time your family held a Reunion ?

There haven't been any official reunions that I remember, but every year at Thanksgiving everyone on my dad's side would always get together. You weren't allowed to miss it! It was a ton of fun. The last time we did that was about 13 years ago.

Did you go ?

Are there any scheduled for the future ? No, but Dh and I plan on buying and keeping a great big house where we can have get togethers like that in the future.

Will you be attending ? Of course!

Bonus Question:
In honor of Elevator Day

When was the last time you were in an Elevator ?
A week ago at the library

Have you ever had any fun or unusual elevator experiences ?

I have trouble thinking that being in an elevator would be fun, aside from the stereotypical "experience" . I'm a bit claustrophobic and just watch the numbers until I can get out of there.

Extra Credit Question:

In honor of "cut back day"

Has there been anything you have been trying to "cutback on" ?

Yes

Has it been successful ?

It would be if a certain person in this house didn't sabotage my efforts.

Just for Fun:

How many of our QOTD family are fans of :

Rice Pudding ?It's OK
Polka Dancing ? Did it once
Walking in the rain ?A light rain, yes. More than that, no.
Garage or yard sales ? If I can walk around and visit several at a time, yes. I hate driving around and getting in and out of the care repeatedly.
Eating Breakfast for Dinner ? Yes.

Today's Question(s):

When was the last time your family held a Reunion ?
On my father's side there has been a huge reunion, every Father's Day for the last 94 years. I'm sure some years were missed. But it is the thing that newspaper articles are written about.

Did you go ?
When we were kids we went frequently. It was held about 20 miles from our house.

Are there any scheduled for the future ?
I'm sure there are no plans to stop any time in the future.

Will you be attending ?

Today's Question(s):
G.G. mentioned family reunion so lets find out about yours

When was the last time your family held a Reunion ?

My brother's 75th birthday in Long Island.

Did you go ?

Absolutely! That's one family who knows where to buy great cake!!!! (Plus, they're a fun bunch.)

Are there any scheduled for the future ? Oh sure, my dh's family is Italian. We have big family reunions for every imaginable event (like when a kid graduates from middle school.)

Will you be attending ?

To be honest, I'm cutting way back on them. One a year is enough from now on.

Bonus Question:
In honor of Elevator Day

When was the last time you were in an Elevator ?

Friday.

Have you ever had any fun or unusual elevator experiences ?

I like to take the glass elevators on a cruise ship when they're building the "tower of champagne glasses" in front of it.

Extra Credit Question:

In honor of "cut back day"

Has there been anything you have been trying to "cutback on" ?

Family reunions. I now just do the major events, like weddings. Or events that are close to home. I love my family but travelling cross country is just too tiring these days.

Just for Fun:

How many of our QOTD family are fans of :

Rice Pudding ?
Polka Dancing ?
Walking in the rain ?
Garage or yard sales ?
Eating Breakfast for Dinner ?

Of all these things the only one I like to do is walking in the rain. A light drizzle, of course, not a downpour. I sometimes eat leftovers from dinner for breakfast. Does that count?

Happy Monday, All! Karla, I hope your meeting goes well. Don't know if I'd last through a FIVE hour meeting...

Today's Question(s):
G.G. mentioned family reunion so lets find out about yours

When was the last time your family held a Reunion ? Midwestern Bookworm and I must be distant relatives; I couldn't imagine the disfunctional collection of people that have been in and out of my family over the years EVER getting together. The last "meeting" was my father's funeral and it was strained, at best...

Did you go ?

Are there any scheduled for the future ? My sister & family are really my only American relatives and if WE don't go to the effort to see them, we don't get together. I get along with my MIL only because my german isn't good enough to REALLY communicate with her. My wife's glad we live on the other side of the worldd from her mom & sister. I really like the rest of my wife's relatives, but I regret that I haven't learned enough German to really talk with them...

Will you be attending ? Nope!

Bonus Question:
In honor of Elevator Day

When was the last time you were in an Elevator ? Several weeks ago fro Mrs. CC's doctor's appointment.

Have you ever had any fun or unusual elevator experiences ? Nope; nothing unusual.

Extra Credit Question:
In honor of "cut back day"

Has there been anything you have been trying to "cutback on" ? calories...

Has it been successful ? mixed results...

Just for Fun:

How many of our QOTD family are fans of :

Rice Pudding ?Yep!
Polka Dancing ? Are you kidding me? Wierd Al would probably want to put me in one of his videos if he saw me dance.
Walking in the rain ? No, not really.
Garage or yard sales ? Yeah, sometimes I'll browse. It's not like we need anything, though...
Eating Breakfast for Dinner ? ALL the time! Breakfast is my favorite meal!

Today in History:
1831 - The first steam locomotive train began its inaugural run, between Albany and Schenectady, in New York.
1859- The Elevator was patented
1910 - Alva J. Fisher of Chicago, IL received a patent for the electric washing machine. Previously, washing machines were cranked by hand (not easily done) -- or you used a washboard.
1944 - Smokey the Bear debuts as spokesman for fire prevention
Ya know why Smokeythe Bear never had kids? Every time he got hot, his wife would stamp him out...
1988 - Just 1 day after 8/8/88 with an 88 degree high, the New York's daily number was 888
(cue theme from the twilight Zone) Or maybe Martha Reeves & the Vandellas' "Heat Wave"...

Word of the Day:
gerent \ JEER-uhnt \ , noun;
1. A ruler or manager.

Today is:
National Rice Pudding Day
Elevator Day
Book lovers Day A day for MWBW! (And me, if I can ever find time to read 'em...)
Celebrate Your Lakes Day The closest one to me (Grand Lake St. Marys) is polluted...
National Underwear Day And I KNOW everyone's is clean, like your mom told you, in case something happens...
Dance A Polka DayAh, no thanks!
National Cut Back Day (When I was a young Airman in the USAF, we all went into work on Swing Shift hoping to get "cut back"...sigh
