Between these 2 areas which would you choose and why?

No "commute worries" just need to think about - saftey, schools.....

Both are very good areas. They are both safe with good schools. I guess it is about preference. I like Lake Mary b/c of the close proximity to things. You have I4 and the toll road closeby. Also, there is everything you need from shopping to entertainment within a 5 mile radius, most within a mile or 2. Oviedo to me is more spread out than Lake Mary. If I were you, I'd visit both to see what you like. IMHO, they are both great places to live.

Lake Mary again for location, quick access to beach, downtown, mall (Altamonte or Seminole Town Center?), bike trails, schools etc...

Oveido is nice it's just out there and I'm from the country.

Hope this helps,

I vote for Oviedo Very family oriented and I hate being absolutely surrounded by strip malls and highways at every turn

I like being on the edge of the country, I too, am close to the beaches...I am 45 minutes from Cocoa from my driveway.

It is a little farther for me to go to the better malls like
Altamonte, etc than it is for the Lake Mary folks...but hey, it is still only about 20 or so minutes so it's not bad. I am right off of 417 and from there I can get most anywhere else.

Schools are great here, I pretty much cannot be rezoned into a poor one, unlike other towns around. My school zones are pretty clear cut.

Pretty safe out here as well....I walk around all the time, it's nice. Lots of family activities are put on by Oviedo, we just had a big festival in town as well! I like Oviedo...my two cents (altho we did look into Lake Mary as well....you just have to see which one FEELS more like home to ya!)

Yes it's part of Lake Mary, but to me it consits of it's own town. It's gated and it has a bunch of different subdivisions in it.
