Hi. Im planning to move to Orlando area next year.
Is there a lot of travel agencies? I have qualifications to work as a travel agent, cabin crew and few more touristic jobs ;P
Is it hard to find a job in travel and tourism industry? What are the typical wages?

I am a travel agent myself and just got laid off . It's tough here right now for the travel industry. Jobs are out there but a lot more people applying for. SO....reality is taking a little longer than usual to get jobs here. They do exist and once things start getting better here will be overflowing with jobs...keep you plans and move anyway..is fun here and if you are positive annything is possible..you make it happen.
Good luck!

I was just going to say the travel industry is NOTHING like it used to be. I was in the business back in the late 80's before all the websites came out and it was actually fun. But I took a break and went back into it in the late 90's and it was completely different. We would get calls from people who would literally call every agency in the book trying to find the cheapest fare and when you called them back, they had no idea who you were. The industry isn't one I would want to be in any longer.

Good luck to you.

My Mom owns a very successful travel agency (independently owned since 1986 and still booming, even in light of today's Travel Industry challenges).

She is diligently looking for an outside sales travel agent that specializes in India... someone tied to the Indian community with a large network of friends and family...

Since its outside sales, you don't have to live in the same city, state or even country for that matter! All you have to have is the will and desire and passion to work in the travel industry!

Anyone interested can DM or email me (all my contact info is listed under my id, X2CME) and I'll reply back with the agency's contact info!

I predict that within the next 8 to 10 years India will be the worlds next Europe when it comes to travel!

Most travel agents work on commission, so it depends on your client base. Working for Disney in reservations the pay is a little over minimum wage.
