We are moving up to Oviedo in a little over a week. This weekend we'll be in the house painting and cleaning things up before the movers come up and we really settle in. One of the things we're a little concerned about it the pool. It's screened in, so overall it's pretty clean, but the current owner hasn't lived in the house for around 6 months. In that time the real estate agent has occasionally shocked it, but overall it hasn't been really been kept up well. For instance, after a few heavy rains, the water turned green. The agent would shock it, and turn in back, but I've got a pretty good feeling that doesn't make it real safe to swim in.

So what we're looking for is a company/cleaner that can come out and check out the water and treat it so that it's safe again. I've spoken with a few companies that would do this, but none were willing to come out on a Saturday or Sunday though. I'd really like to have someone treat the pool this weekend, before we officially move in next week so that we can use the pool right away.

Additionally I'd either need someone who could train me (put me through pool school) so that I'm familiar with the equipment and how to maintain it. It's been about 15 years since I've regularly treated a pool so I'm pretty sure I won't remember anything. If I can't find someone to do that, I'd be just as open to hiring someone to regularly clean and treat the pool on a weekly or bi-weekly basis for the next few months.

So if anyone can recommend a good pool service in the Oviedo area please by all means recommend it.

We highly recommend Branning Pool Service. They are a full service company too. If your equipment breaks they can fix it. We've had several people comment on how great our pool looks.

Default If you have to replace equipment...

These are some items I would highly recommend:

#1 - Make sure your pump is at least 2hp (rating should be based on the # of gallons)
#2 - Use a salt chlorination system. It removes the harsh smell/taste/feel of chlorine, but does the same job - naturally.
#3 - Use a DE filter. While the cartridge filter is slightly more convinient, the DE filter is MUCH cheaper in the long run - you can just rinse down the panels vs. buying new cartridges.
#4 - Spring for the Hayward Navigator as a pool cleaner. I can't say enough good about the one we're using - 'does an awesome job (and our pool isn't screened).

Default Pool Company Recommendations

We live in Oviedo and have used B.M.Wemple Pools to maintain our pool not only at our current home but at our last home for many years, in fact they they did a beautiful renovation on my last homes pool. They are a full service company not only are they a local company to Oviedo , but my last home was in Windermere, they have many trucks on the road and have always been able to respond quickly to any repair issues I have ever had.I like the fact that you can always reach someone on the phone and alot of times get free information rather than having to pay for a service call. I have used their knowledge many times over the years.
I am a General contractor so from what I understand you can clean pools without a license "like the lawn guy" but you have to be state certified to do any repairs at my home otherwise I could be fined by the state for using him for repairs if he wasn't licensed & I worry about opening myself up for liability if someone was injured hence " my children or a neighbors".
As I know full well working with my subcontractors smaller companies tend not to carry workers compensation insurance they get an exemption. Alot of them say they are licensed and insured but they are not telling the whole truth, I would ask to see their state license makes sure they have insurance. The issue with that is if the pool guy gets hurt at my home I will be held responsible. So when I heard that a pool service guy was killed while working at a customers home in I believe Gainesville this summer I thought what if he was workers comp exempt the homeowner is going to be wide open form liablity.BMWemple pools has all the insurance coverages I checked. Being in the construction industry myself I know how important to have all bases covered and they seem to.
They also have a pool heating company that we used to heat our last pool and from what I understand they also own Atlas Pools of central fl. off Mitchell Hammock Rd. by tee it up golf the one with the TV's you can see from the road when stopped in traffic. As a contractor myself I know how important to use one person for everything and they do it all when it comes to pools.Good luck I hope this helps.
