Hello,

Can anyone give me a list of insurance providers that offer homeowners insurance in Orlando? Some information on the annual premium, quality of customer service, experience with claims, and the provider's financial strength ratings would really help.

What are the different types of insurance I should consider buying (hazard, wind, water/flood, vandalism, etc.)?

I will be closing on my home in less than 3 weeks, and have to decide on home insurance by the end of this week.

Thanks in advance!

If it is a newer home try State Farm - Although they may only be writing for their current auto customers. They did offer us a policy last week. Otherwise the only company I know that is currently writing in Orlando is American Strategic Insurance Group. We chose to go with them as their bid was 200.00 lower than State Farm's. They have the same rating as State Farm Florida - both B+. I have not had experience with them, but I have talked to others who have and say they had not had any problems.

We are paying 1600.00 a year for coverage for a 450K home with the standard riders and 2% hurricane deductible. We are not in a flood plane and did not need flood insurance. Your mortgage company will let you know if you do - they will not write a mortgage for you without it if you need it.

The only other company we could find that was even writing in Orlando was rated a B- so we didn't even look at them. There's not much out there to choose from at this point. Good Luck!

I also use American Strategic - they are based in St. Petersburg. Luckily, no need to deal with them for claims, etc., but their bid for our coverage was MUCH lower than equally rated companies. Also, many companies wouldn't even offer a policy (on our restored 70 year old home), but ASI did no problem !!

Hi

I use Chartered Ins 407 265 3853

What I find strange is that the insurance companies wiil not insure you if they have enough homes insured on your sub division.

Weird

There's a great service called MB Insurance who are premium representatives of larger companies like Allstate, Safe Harbor, UPC, Universal and St. Johns. They will give you very competitive rates with a comparison of features and benefits and are very friendly with years of experience in Orlando and Central Florida homeowners insurance. Their website is MB Insurance | Home Insurance In Florida and their phone number is 407-249-9500. Very friendly people and highly recommended for you. Best of luck!

I've been a State Farm customer for over 40 years with both uto and home owner insurance. We went to Allstate after they tried to raise our insurance by over 1500 bucks a year this past November. Allstate was 1/2 the price if we stayed with the new State Farm rates.
