HI I have been lurking here for a while. Tried a search and just couldn't find any answers We will be moving to Florida in September, my husband has been in the construction industry for 20+ yrs . He can pretty much do everything, At first we were thinking he would get a GC license but it seems like that is very involved in the state of Florida...He has a few credit issues on his credit report so I am worried that would keep him from being approved. While I understand the need for them having to be so strict, we have decided that it is not the way we want to go for now. I was thinking he could get a handyman license instead. I went on the osceola county site but couldnt find anything???? Also would he have to carry a license for any county he wants to do work in? Like say Brevard? What kinds of things are you limited to doing? could he do kitchens, bathrooms, decks, light plumbing? His passion is making custom cabinets and furniture, but he can really do anything. Can someone direct me to where the rules are for Handymen in Fla? or in individual counties?

thanks so much

Most of what he wants to do would require a GC license, and in some cases a plumber or electrician license as well.

Pretty much if it requires a building permit, you need to involves a licensed trade or GC.
