We're ranked number 87 out of 280. We're obviously not the highest but we sure as hell are not the lowest either. Looks like we're slightly under the top 33% but well above the bottom 50%. I think Kyle19125 oughta check this out....just saying. I got the numbers to back me up

However, this data is from the year 2000, I cannot find 2010 census data and where we are ranked more currently

Yeah Davie kinda missed the mark with numbers that old there buddy, not saying they don't still apply but probably not. The economic mix up threw a lot of wrenches in the mix and moved a lot of economies around disproportionately based on their source of income base, I.E. tourism, industrial, tech and so on..

There are plenty of people in this area who make six figure salaries.

Hi Davie, I know...I saw the same numbers. We have the 87th highest average salary as the 26th largest MSA. The average income in Orlando by 2011 had fallen to $39,310 from $41,871 in 2000, not unlike some of the country, however our average wages continue to fall at a 2% a quarter clip, something a city with the 87th highest average salary can ill afford. With the US average income hovering at 45K and with Orlando's average income trailing that number by $5,000, it's worth noting that our cost of living index which is considered to be around 100 (or average for the US) is quite a bit out of step and worsening.
