Hi everyone.
My family is moving to Orlando from a small city with extremely well funded public schools. I have heard that Orlando schools can be, well...rough. We are looking to be within a 30 minute daily commute to Disney property. It is imperative that we be at a high school with an excellent AP program that is safe. Smaller communities on the outskirts in a nice, middle class area are preferred. My kids are mature, nerdy, quiet, and nervous about larger schools with high crime/lack of discipline. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Your best choice would be Dr. Phillips High School. I graduated from there and it's a good school in a nice area. I believe 40-50% of students take AP course(s). Winter Park High School is also a good school, but wouldn't meet the proximity to Disney requirement.

Well id recommend Dr Phillips, Winter Park, Boone, Olympia, lake Brantley, Oviedo, Hagerty, Lake Mary, and Seminole. All offer what you you want except for the small school thing. Most have over 2500 students, and small schools are hard to come by in the Orlando Area. Also Might want to look into West Orange, East Ridge, and Lake Minneola.

I agree with the first list above, especially Dr. Phillips, Winter Park, Boone, and Olympia.

And all are associated with nice neighborhoods.

Maybe also Timber Creek in Avalon Park.

I agree with the above.

If you want a small school, you're going to have to go with private or charter or move to a more "small town" county.

Florida and Texas like the jumbo high schools.
