I know every area has good and bad spots, but overall is Winter Springs considered a "good" area - one that's family friendly? Also, is it near to good shopping and schools?

Yes, just stick closer to Tuscawilla, Red Bug and the Town Center. Stay away from 17/92 and 434 area which is the less desirable. Schools are good as well.

Moving to Winter Springs is a moot point now. Even though I put the first contract down on the house and I offered more money to the seller, they're going to give it to the late bidder because he can close in 2 1/2 weeks, whereas I can't close before 1/2/12 (the standard 30 days). It sucks because I already had a contract written up for it and sent in, and I had my heart set on this house and area. Now I'm back to house-hunting - again.

Sorry to hear that. Things happen for a reason and there is more out there. Personally, I like Winter Springs but I like the location of Longwood or Lake Mary better. It just seems further away from things. I forgot, what is your price range and what size home are you looking for? I was trying to suggest some neighborhoods or homes that I can think of to help out.

Well, the seller has mysteriously changed his mind and decided to let me have the house in Winter Springs (the Tuscawilla area). I move in early January. I'm really happy about the location and house and look forward to experiencing Orlando life in that area.

Good choice and congratulations. I think you will really like living in Tuskawilla. It's very family oriented and just a very pleasant place to live.

I really like the area you'll be in. My brother lives not far from there off of Hayes.
