I found an AWESOME deal in Oviedo for $169k with 10/10 schools zoned. Now we need to get our house on the market and get out of this frozen tundra!!!!

66 degrees tomorrow in Oviedo and 30 here with 6-8" of snow on the way
We're from NOVA and totally feel what you're saying. I wish you the best of luck with your search and hope to see you in greener pastures soon.

I dont know whats wrong with it, but its gotta be something big, right?
So, did you move? I am considering a similar move from the DC area to Oviedo. How did it go? What was your experience, please? I'd love to hear it.

Thanks.

If your husband doesn't like the heat, he is not going to like Florida at all. And if he is also risking his job, we are looking at a very unhappy husband here. I just gotta tell you there is a biological difference between people. I honestly don't believe it's a preference as much as a real physical reaction. 80 degrees to some people feels like 100 degrees to other people.
I hate florida's heat, as it is miserably hot about 9 months out of the year. It just doesn't stop. My friends love the heat and choose to be outside on days when I am miserable. Most Floridians are from somewhere else and chose to live here because they like the heat. But I have no choice, I have to live in Florida. If it was my husbands choice/fault that we lived here, we would have a very unhappy marriage.
I really understand with small children you wanting to be with family, I really do. But just don't romanticize your memories of Florida, and keep in mind that your husband might truly hate every minute of being here.

We sold our house in one week (yay!) in the DC Metro area and are REALLLLLY searching for a home in Florida now.

Narrowed it down to Lake Mary, Wekiva Area(Longwood) or Oviedo based on school excellency, mature landscaping and access to shopping/parks.

MY search continues but we settle here on May 16th so I need to find something fast!

Considering the majority of the people in the Orlando area are from somewhere else such as the NE or Chicago, I'm sure you'll be fine. Plus there are more registered Democrats in the State of Florida than Republicans, they just don't vote hence why we now have Rick Scott as a Governor. Good luck in your house hunt, Oviedo is fine, near the big University. Personally, I prefer Lake Mary or Longwood/Wekiva for all of your aforementioned criteria.

I actually prefer the landscaped feel of Wekiva Springs over anything but my husband needs to fly back to DC once a month and that would be a nasty commute to get to the airport and back at OIA. Plus its a much "older" feeling place as far as houses being older and residents as well. . ..we are active, young and have 2 kids under the age of 4 so we want to be amongst people of the same place in life

My husband is flying into Orlando on Wednesday to do some house hunting, or really just figure out if he likes Lake Mary or Oviedo/Winter Springs

Cant wait to get to the warm sunny beach! Its currently 40-something here and windy
