Does anyone have any details about Sweethome Oregon?

I am going look at a few real estates this next week and have a few in SweetHome Oregon and am wondering if anyone out there can give me some information about Sweethome, is it a good place to live, etc. any help would be appreciated. We are planning on moving there within three weeks so this is kind of important information, thanks.

Jeez, its been years since I was there last.....but I'll throw in what I remember as of a good 10yrs ago!!
Sweethome is in a very very beautiful area...surrounded by forest on all sides...air is clean and crisp...there is a dam up around there, and lots of recreational activities on/around the lake. I camped there a few times, fished too and at least back then, the fishing was good. I do recall fishing there once over a river, and you could actually see a HUGE school of trout, good sized one, and they were right where Icould drop my line...and watch it sink right over/through them. They were so full, they couldnt care less. It was veryy frustrating. lol...ummmm last I was there, it was a pretty small town..not much to do other than outdoor activities! Theres a really cute covered bridge park there......Oh, best, there is the Oregon jamboree every year held there in Sweethome. Several of the biggest country singers all do a huge weekend concert there everyyear. why they picked SweetHome is beyond me, but when I was there at my grandparents a few times, we could sit out on the porch and listen to the concert for free. Was the best part of my time there for me! (they only lived there about 3yrs btw, but my grandfather did die there, and they are both buried up around there cuz they sure did love it there) ummmm, they had the worst case of child abuse ever reported,(I think in America) in Sweethome, when I wsa there, it seemed like there was a lot of drug use around, lots of poverty...but again, its been a very long time. Heck, last I was there, there was still a drivein A&W!
Just curious, why moving to a very small town like SweetHome, sight unseen?
Best of luck,
Tiffany

Default SweetHome

Thanks for the response. We are not definitely moving to Sweethome, that is the place that we found what we are looking for, we like small town living, or rather country living, enjoy the peace and quiet and privacy, don't go into town but once a week anyway so being out is no problem. We are needing something with property that will allow two residences and am finding that a little hard to find but seemed Sweethome had the most but I do not know much about the place and that is why I posted for information. Our realtor lives there and she seems content but I feel better getting various opinions on it. Anyway thanks for your input.

Betty
