Hello friends,

I decided to leave NYC, buy a car and drive to the coast for a change of scenery and lifestyle. I am now in Bend, catching my breath for a few days before heading towards Bandon.

I am not having much luck finding any accomodation online that is furnished or offering month to month there. This could be partially due to my brain still being wired to NY life where any/everything is possible as long as you have money! Obviously I'm not a planner...

So I wonder. I am not completely set on Bandon, but would like to spend the winter (now - Jan/Feb) within this coastal vicinity - does anyone know in which town renting month to month would be possible? Or even signing something like a 6 month lease? (Or would anyone on here be willing to offer this type of accommodation? My only requirements are having access to health/organic food and being near the water. I am quite a natural hermit and don't need anything hip or entertaining around.

Thanks for any and all input and suggestions!

Best,
Jessica

LOL. Good luck. Rentals are pretty scarce in these coastal communities.

Sometimes Airbnb owners will agree to do a monthly thing during the off-season.

Furnished rentals are VRBO and AirBnb. Sometimes they will offer a monthly rate, which will be high. The coast is made up of small tiny towns and won't have the same amenities as NYC.

If you can't find anything in Bandon don't be afraid to look in Gold Beach or Florence. Good luck!

I live in Florence. There's not much here for short term rentals.

Look here for Gold Beach. They rent these cabins out on a month-by-month basis during the off-season:

Check out Newport. They have the best food co-op on the Coast and it's a great central location for hikes and other adventures.

Do some googling and call all the real estate offices you can find in Bandon and surrounding towns. A lot of them do property management of vacation rentals along with real estate sales. It is possible you might shake something loose that way. There are a ton of homes for sale along the coast and there might be people with homes on the market who might be willing to rent for a few months for extra cash if you are willing to allow the house to be shown while you are living in it. Or who might be willing to do a rental and put the home back on the market in the spring.
