Traffic near Sisters is very light. The roads are wide open. But I just paid $2.99 for gas.

Or maybe the lack of traffic Today (Friday and Saturday) means that folks are waiting until tomorrow morning.

Based on what I saw on the local news tonight, the coast is much less crowded than expected, so much so that some restaurant businesses have sent workers home.
There are empty hotel rooms as well. But then they are asking over 4x the normal rate, in an area with a higher risk of cloud cover than the valley.

A friend of mine in Salem said that the parks there have all become tent cities.

Madras is very busy tonight. Non-stop auto and pedestrian traffic on the streets. A lot of the businesses are still open, and packed. The business owners seem happy.

I was impressed with the sight. Clear skies. It got rather dark during the totality, but along the horizon it looked like there was more light from the Sun. Our cats didn't seem to react any different than usual. I saw a large bird, probably a hawk, flying around. Didn't look like it was planning to roost. Didn't see any smaller birds flitting around. The glow around the totality was great to see, along with the "diamond ring effect" as the sun began to reappear. The totality didn't last long (a little under 2 minutes), but well worth the experience.

Pulled into Depoe Bay at 9am. Light traffic, but everyone was parked and waiting. Fog along the waterfront. Went up and into Ground Zero, at Fogarty Creek St. Pk. Light traffic, but park was rather full. Foggy, so we headed back into Depoe Bay.
Drove up the hill, into the Heights neighborhood, about 500 ft above town. Completely sunny, fog still in town, below.
Parked at a vacant lot, with a wonderful view to the southeast. Half-dozen high-altitude jets circling around, in the distance.

Fabulously clear eclipse.
Still rather foggy when we got back down and drove home.

Clear here- we had coffee (well I ate a taco) and watched the eclipse, quiet and peaceful the dogs were alittle confused at what we were doing, but no biggie, best view was from the back of the house, lovely clear day here in SE PDX.....

Heading out later North, hope roads are ok (have no choice gotta go)...

Sounds nice. We stood in our driveway and were able to see the weird light waves right before it got to it's maximum here. Then as the eclipse was waning I got an interesting photo of the effect through a shadow cast by a big sweetgum tree.
