I wish I can leave the NYC/NJ/LI and live in OC/SD. I love it there.

I thought the CDF was calling for 100' of defensible space now?

Oh well it's the OC, where plastic melts and doesn't burn.

Do what I did….like you I got bored with OC (and had a hard time with the Newport Beach types—more so the wannabes it also attracted) but had to report to an office in Irvine so for a change of pace and more variety I spent a lot of time on weekends up in a place many OC’ers despise: LA.

I was going to ask why people were still responding to this ridiculous one hit wonder post.... until I read El Chevere's post... who had a hard time with "Newport Beach types".... so he moved to Miami.... OMG.

Love it here but I've been happy everywhere.

I feel fulfilled.

By that I mean, I feel full from getting "filled" by the crazy COL, traffic and the overwhelming number of pretentious, plastic people.

That said, if you are relating to the D-Fens character from Falling Down, more and more each year, it might be time to see a shrink and relocate.

It really sounds like it’s other issues & you’re blaming it on OC. Why do you say you have a great job, but you feel like a “retired munchkin”?

That's a sad mission. It's nice to have, but shouldn't be your entire goal or focus in life. My father spent his whole life focused on money/savings, and was diagnosed with Alzheimer's the year after he retired - died 8 years later after a tough battle.

Taught me about priorities, for sure.

That's very presumptuous. Assuming gender and/or sexual orientation, and also assuming they need another person to be fulfilled. As I said in my last comment, that is a sad goal imo. If OP is still here, I'd tell them to find INNER and personal fulfillment; but nobody can tell them what that is. It is different for everyone.

I can relate to their feelings, which is why I'm responding this way. No boyfriend/partner or job has ever brought me that inner peace, so I am seeking it elsewhere now.
