Hi,
We have decided that we do not want to send our son to the local junior high that is nearby. The crowd is a little worrisome for us. He has struggled quite a bit in the current system and I think it is best for him to try a private school as perhaps they may teach more "at his level". However, the 2 schools I have seen (Heritage Oaks and Fairmont) he does not seem to fit in well with their curriculum. I think he is a good hardworking kid, but he needs extra effort when it comes to language arts/english. He is above grade level in Math though. Also, we have done a bit of moving this year, and he is missing his old company.

We currently reside in Corona/Green River area. We work in Orange/Anaheim as well as West LA. I was wondering if someone had any experience for good private schools where there is more of an emphasis on character building, morals, respect, etc. than there is on academics?

I feel kids will excel academically at their own pace, but the atmosphere of private schools is better in the sense that there are less kids and the environment is more controlled (with respect to drugs violence, etc.). We have a very sad example with a family friend who had a lot of difficulties with the public school system around this age.

I don't mind if the school has a christian/catholic influence but would prefer non-religious as we are neither Christian nor Catholic. I have heard of Valley Christian and Prince of Peace in the past, but I am not sure if it is a good fit either?

I know that there are several options in SOuth Orange County but I do not want to drive that far if I don't have to. Are there any options for private schools within the corona area by any chance?

I'm open to any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.
