Just saw it on the news. Apparently Guy Fiore, from "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" was in town. They hit about 6 restaurants. The one they showed on tv was Amato's at 60th and Center.

Interesting. I have never actually eaten there...but maybe I'll have to try it sometime.

I like the local food places over chains... haven't seen the list of where he went, but if I haven't tried those places I will make it a point to go to each one (as long as it isn't seafood).

He went to Amato's Cafe, Big Mama's Kitchen, Brewburger's, California Tacos & More, Dixie Quicks Magnolia Room and Joe Tess Place according to Omaha.com Entertainment Section

I wonder if he had catfish or carp at Joe Tess.

I can't believe he didn't hit Petrows. I used to live about a mile from there, and my wife and I ate there all the time.

I'm guessing he probably at least tried the carp at Joe Tess'....it's not something most folks would consider "gourmet". Then again...most foodies probably aren't nuts about catfish, either.

And I agree with Dave--I'll make it a point to go try 'em if I haven't already.

The Surf Side would have been a good destination as well.

In other 'Omaha in the spotlight' news... Cesar Milan... the Dog Whisperer also did an episode here recently... showing shots of downtown and the Old Market as well.
