I have a verbal job offer from a company in Omaha that I'm probably going to accept. Salary is in the $37500-$39900 range and there's no relocation package.

I'm moving from WI (Milwaukee suburbs) and I've never been to Omaha before. Looked at a bunch of apartments online, have a few in mind, but I was hoping someone could give me advice on neighborhoods to live in/avoid, how easy finding a place should be, etc.

Also - $37500-$39900 salary, livable in Omaha?

Thanks!

We just moved here so this isn't from lots of experience, just my observations so far. Depends on where your job is located but there are lots of nice areas. The Bennington area seemed very nice and more out of town if that's what you are looking for. We also looked around 180th and Harrison area which was nice as well. Gretna and elkhorn are great areas as well, clean and nice people. I'm not too familiar with downtown but have heard great things, of course that is more expensive. Good luck!

Thanks! The company I'd be working for is in the Millard area, so I'll have to go do some research on the areas you mentioned and what the commute would be like

Do you want to live in a more urban or suburban area?

Absolutely. The cost of living is very low in Omaha.

Absolutely. You will only need to spend a fraction of that.

Default Welcome to Omaha!

For a single person, the salary you mentioned is very doable here - very low cost of living in Omaha.

There are so many housing options in the Millard area I can see why it's tough to find a place. Too much to sift through! Also, Millard is a large area. Can you be a little more specific about the geographical area where you want to live? South Millard, North Millard, West or East?

Something to keep in mind - Omaha is a 30 minute city. You can get from almost anywhere to almost anywhere within O in about 30 minutes.

I am looking for a place now in a city I've never lived (Omaha to Bloomington, IN) so I feel your pain.
Best of luck and let us know how we can help.
