Good evening everyone,
I need some advice please. My fiance and I are trying to decide on a college and Oklahoma is on our list. Im looking into nursing and he is an electrician. We currently live in VA but will be relocating when our active duty time is up at the end of September. We are looking for a smaller college in a good area. After reading some of these threads Tulsa looks appealing but any advice will be appreciated. We are in our mid 20's and not big on the party scene. Thank you so much for your time.

I'm a alumni there (2007) and it was a blast. Very good professors, small town environment. Its VERY SMALL compared to Tulsa Univ, or just about any college you've ever been too....but it's affordable and gets the degree! If not Eastern, I'd recommend Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, OK. My wife is in her final semester student teaching, and I graduated last year with a BA in physical ed/crim justice. Quite a bit bigger the EOSC, but still small enough to get good 1 on 1 with a professor if needed. Also affordable.

Durant is a nice college town. Plenty of stores to shop, lots of eateries, and a decent night scene if your into that. If Durant doesn't have what you need, Sherman/Denison, TX 25 minutes south will have. Dallas is only 90 minutes south.

Good college type jobs with flexible schedules at the new casinos, wal-mart, and the DEVILS place....PRC.

You might look at Durant. It's an up and coming little town with lots of new construction going on and more planned. That means work for an electrician.

It's also the home of Southeastern State University, one of the better state schools. However, I'm not sure they have a nursing program. If not, though, there's Grayson County Jr. College about 25 miles away in Denison, TX which has a fine one.
