Just curious about winter in Oklahoma. As we see on the news about how bad this last storm really shut down the state (and other states too) but was this just a freak like weather storm in O.K. or does it snow and freeze like that all the time in the winter months ....

It's not rare to see winter storms. But storms of this magnitude and a week apart are rare.

It is not the norm...in fact we can usually remember the years we had anything like this. 1987 and 2000 are still talked about as each having a storm.

We have had several mild winters.

The problem is nobody is prepared for them! They happen so few and far between that people "freak out" when they drive, etc. We get all sorts of weather, but the weather guys typically do a good job of letting you know ahead of time. There are a lot of rural areas that are serviced by electric co-ops. They are typically the ones that you see on the national news due the smaller number of employees that are not able to deal with the crisis. The saying is true though... if you don't like the weather, just stick around and it's bound to change!

Supposed to be near or below freezing for the next week, not much change. Winter can be fairly stagnant around here, and of course summer as well.
